Ballena Regency in Mirissa

Well, the hotel itself is okay, with a pool that has good views.
Honestly, I booked it because it had good reviews and was on sale, but the room was really outdated. It had a lot of issues, like they tried to fix things without doing it properly, and the water pressure in the shower was barely there.

However, the breakfast was good, and you could have it delivered to the terrace of your room.

Great location in Mirissa, tucked away from the main street with a short 5 min walk to the beach. Modern complex with a beautiful pool at the front. No parking for vehicles but they were able to assist with the luggages, going up the stairs. Upon entering our room noted that the air-conditioning was not turned on and the room was therefore quite stuffy. We wanted to have a shower as we'd been travelling for 5 hours, unfortunately they had run out of hot water. While debating our predicament, there was a power cut which lasted about half an hour. Not a great start to our first night. Some of the plug points did not work and there was no phone to contact reception, which involved multiple trips out of the room. Manager was very apologetic the following morning and moved us in to a functioning room upstairs. Day two went without any hiccups, except for the water cut in the evening where the water completely shut down midway through our toddler's shower. It took about an hour or so for it to return.
The staff at the property are lovely and very helpful. Rooms are modern and spacious. However, we would've enjoyed the stay a lot more had it not been for the issues with the property that kept propping up. It looks like the property needs further QA checks to bring it up to scratch. If you are not too fussed this property would serve you well. Price we paid was not cheap, so we expected more.

Odd experience. Not terrible but seemed as if the hotel was only 95% finished. Raw timber skirting, holes in the wall and all seemed a little unfinished. Staff were friendly and eager to help, but had little training and not quite sure what they were doing. Rooms were large and bathrooms were nice but just needed some finishing touches. Lovely pool area.
