The front office is very rude. When we left the hotel and came back, they were eating in the front office. I called them, they ignored me. No one should come. This hotel. Buffet one day, set menu the next day, no information, very poor. The food is a bit good. The atmosphere is good, the service is last.

Do not go by review they offer freebies to get good review.... On ground reality is different Dare to check into this place? Seriously… don’t. Trust me, this “resort” will turn your trip into a complete nightmare. If this review saves even one person from booking here, it’s worth it. Calling this place a resort is an insult to actual resorts. It’s nothing more than cheap management with even cheaper behavior. Staff experience? Absolutely pathetic. Manager: N. Duka Assistant Manager: Gayashani Receptionist: Vashika Unprofessional, rude, and shockingly petty. We stayed as a family of 6, and when we asked for basic things like toiletries and towels, their response was unbelievable: “You are 5 people, we gave 4… can you manage? Why do you need more?” And it doesn’t stop there… If you plan to use the swimming pool, don’t expect basic courtesy. When we asked for towels to cover up after swimming, they were literally hiding towels so guests wouldn’t use them. On top of that, they question you as if you’re doing something wrong just for using the facilities you paid for. Breakfast? A complete disaster. Food was served cold, and even after telling them multiple times, only then did they bring something slightly warm. There were hardly any proper options, especially nothing suitable for children. Seriously? Is this how you treat guests? This place runs on a cheap mentality, poor service, and zero hospitality. Staff behavior is arrogant, dismissive, and downright embarrassing. Avoid this place at all costs. Don’t ruin your trip. Do not go by review they offer freebies to get good review.... On ground reality is different

We were happy to visit magical Sri Lanka and chose the Watergate Hotel in Unawatuna. The hotel made our stay warm and cozy, and it gave us so many spectacular views! The ocean is of incredible beauty! It's a miracle to wake up to such a view! It's a magical place with pleasant and responsive staff who were always helpful. Thank you to the hotel and all the workers for this magic! We want to especially thank the guys who prepared our breakfasts. Thank you for your hard work, charm, and kindness! Our day began with your care and smiles. We also want to sincerely thank Isury Nanayakkara, she was always there and greeted us so warmly, we didn't want to part! We wish the hotel prosperity. We will be back!

I really loved the location of the hotel, it was very convenient for getting to Galle, nearby restaurants, and the beach. We walked most of the time, which was perfect. The room facilities and cleanliness were great; everything was modern, clean, and offered a beautiful ocean view. The swimming pool was also a highlight, as it was so refreshing to cool off after a day at the beach. Ashen, the PR, was very helpful in arranging taxis and recommending things to do in Sri Lanka. While he sometimes sent a few too many messages and was a-bit pushy with his offers, he was always willing to assist, and we appreciated his support. The restaurant staff were also kind and attentive, and having the option to dine in at the hotel was very convenient. On the other hand, there were a couple of areas that could be improved. One staff member at the front desk came across as quite rude when explaining the hotel rules, she spoke to us as if we were young spring breakers, which felt unnecessary given we were simply there for a relaxing holiday (as we work in hospitality ourselves) and there were hotel rule signs throughout the hotel. Additionally, I was accidentally charged twice on my card, though Ashen quickly resolved the issue. Since we were the only guests during most of our five-night stay, it sometimes felt a little uncomfortable being watched so closely by staff at the pool or in the lobby, though I understand they may have just been trying to ensure we were well looked after. I imagine this would feel different during high season when there are more guests. Overall, it is a beautiful hotel and we did enjoy our stay.

Very beautiful breathtaking views friendly staff from in-house manager to the house keeping everyone was so friendly with smiles all the way Cooks 21 years of age never ever had such amazing food five star hotels needs to take some tips from these young cooks seriously I salute all of you for making our stay such a memorable one will definitely recommend to our friends in the UK Special thanks to Sameera Neranjana Themian Lakmal Shamalee Also have to mention the family rooms the size can’t compare to any hotel absolutely amazing Thank you all of you 🙏🙏🙏 really worth tha value. Good location but the hotel needs a face lift. AC in the room has a loud sound, safety box was broken. Breakfast is not good and not to be considered as continental.

We were greeted very warmly, the staff is always happy to help with solving any problems. The hotel is clean, comfortable, located on the ocean. The balconies of all rooms overlook the ocean, gorgeous views, silence. A very worthy three. If we return, it will only be to this hotel.

Amazing hotel, wonderful views and very clean and very well decorated. The staff was super helpful and nice. The managers of the hotel were lovely and helped us a lot with anything that we needed, it's by far the best hotel that we've been to. Not to forget, breakfast was really good in the terrace in front of the sea and the swimming pool was very clean and very beautiful. Thanks a lot for such a good experience, watergate hotel!

The staff are the most beautiful souls!! So happy to help abd accommodate!!! We had the best breakfast only complaint we could not eat it all!!! I had the best tastiest dahl!!! My husband had beautiful full English!! So clean! Beautiful pool !
