Staying at Queens Hotel felt like stepping into a gentler era. Its colonial charm sits proudly at the edge of Kandy Lake, with the Temple of the Sacred Tooth just a short stroll away. The staff’s warmth made the experience feel personal, and the buffet lunch was a highlight in itself. I left with a smile and every intention of returning.

Everything’s but service is not good.

Great place. Excellent location.  I visited in December 2025, not long after the cyclone, less tourists than normal. I was upgraded to a suite, and they included my meals. Such a cool historic hotel and town.

Had a wonderful stay! The rooms were clean and comfortable, the staff was extremely welcoming, and the service was top-notch. Great food and a relaxing atmosphere made the experience even better. Highly recommend!

It's a very beautiful historical place.

Stay for three nights. The hotel is heritage not recommended for a person who is afraid things stay alone. The location is perfect at the front gate of the temple of tooth relics. However, one male GSA do not respond well as I told him that the telephine is broken, the fridge inside is very hot and the light in the toilet is broken so many times. Although the hotel facilities are a bit old, they are very clean, making for a comfortable stay. The view from the window is also quite nice.

The hotel is located by the river, offering some nice views, and the service is excellent. The food selection is quite extensive and tastes good too. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped with everything you need. The hotel is a bit older but has been well-maintained. Although getting to the rooms involves stairs, there's staff available to help with luggage.

I had to ask someone to guide me to my room. Many cigarettes butts in the balcony when I check in.

Spent a day out at Seaclouds Unawatuna and it was a pretty chill experience. The pool was nice clean and perfect for a relaxing swim. The beach is very good, the ocean is usually calm and peaceful. You can find free sunbeds (for a drink or meal) or paid ones (1500 r), there’s a washroom. But they have to do something with the dogs, they pee and poo on the beach, where kids play. It’s very unhygienic (((

I am in pleasure to direct the hotel, a glamorous place of comfort and the sun kissed beach view not only, very calm and quiet environment, but also, very friendly and hospitable service by the hotel staff as well. Had a room on the top floor and it was amazing. Balcony over looked the beach. The room looked and felt clean. The cabanas on the beach were comfortable. The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious. We loved staying here and would come back here anytime.

It was a good stay. The room was comfortable and clean. However, there are a few things that need to be addressed. There are no plug points, except just 2, into which the bedside lamps were plugged in. No place to plug any computer or even a phone charger unless you have a multi socket adapter. Breakfast was good and generous.

Fabulous stay. Few minutes walk to the beach and many great restaurants nearby. Lovely breakfast and all staff really friendly. Nice stay for layover close to hotel

Great bed/mattress, breakfast was 1 day a la carte, and 1 day buffet. Breakfast was ok, but 20 dollars is overpriced for Sri Lanka standards. The airconditioning has 2 settings; OFF or freezing cold. The blankets are warm so it wasn't a big issue. The service was very chaotic. Offering coffee, and no action, and the billing system is a mess for example.

The room was clean, but the soundproofing was average. I was actually woken up by someone talking in the hallway at night. The air conditioner was extremely noisy, but fortunately it was still cool at night so I could turn it off and sleep. The location near the beach with beautiful views is particularly commendable.

A small villa with 9 rooms, built in a traditional style. The photos have been enhanced, but in reality, it's a bit sadder—partly due to poor cleaning, so the surfaces aren't shiny. Keep in mind, there's a train passing just a few hundred meters away, which might be disruptive for people with sensitive sleep. On the plus side, the staff is very friendly.

The garden is beautiful and the pool is great, but the room carpet was incredibly dirty with a very strong smell of dust and dust mites. I had severe allergies for the two days I stayed there, to the point where I had to wear a mask to sleep at night. Opening the window for ventilation didn't help at all. Everything else was good, except for this.

The hotel was booked out but the owner was able to find us a room with our own private bathroom. The bathroom was outdoors just around the corner from our bedroom. The environment is beautiful, but the location is quite remote. I thought we were in the wrong place. 😂 If you stay here, I recommend staying longer at the hotel to experience the close proximity of the animals in the forest.

The facilities are very old, the room smells like old wood, and the air conditioner is very noisy, which affects sleep a bit. The room is divided into two floors, with a single bed in the upper loft and a double bed below. However, the temperature upstairs is always higher than that downstairs, so if there are many people, sleeping upstairs may not be so comfortable.
