Very nice hotel with great staff & exceptional food. However, be aware that early check is eye wateringly expensive. After an overnight flight we were exhausted & felt as if we had been mugged for $150 as we arrived for less than 4 hours in a room that had already been serviced & was ready for us.

First do not leave your valuables in the room, we missed 200$ after the first room cleaning. The place is on the beach and it s nice, but the room is overrun, walls are degrading, the toilet, sink, shower are rusty... We payed almost 150$ per night but the place should not be more than 50... Surely you can get better accomodation for this price somewhere else. The restaurant and bar are way to overpriced...

Great hotel, nice pool, good food, great breakfast ,they have an execptable gym, friendly people everyting there but the beach is a big disappoitement. 100 % covered by seaweed, they only clean a small 2meter way to the water when it is low tide. The architectural details in the space finishing and interior deaign is breath taking .....but one should always opt for shef's menu of the day to be on safe side ....there abit of mosquitoes so having a mosquito repellant could come in handy .......

I did not sleep here so can not say much about the rooms. The staff where friendly and it is a nice place to stay just over the day. You pay entrance for using the pool. The pool is nice and clean. Swim in the sea is not bad but has to be done at high tide and it is a lot of plastic bags on the beach. Why the hotels do not clean is a mystery

We booked nearly all the rooms, and many rooms had no running water, we had no card keys to the rooms, and since the doors are card locked, we had to share one key and you end up leaving your door open if you had to move around...

A gardener/naturalist named Pray (sp?) provided a very informative walk though the beautiful landscaping, the kitchen gardens, and the edge of Lake Duluti, describing and explaining the flora and fauna (especially birds). As a solo traveller, I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect retreat. The peaceful surroundings, gentle ocean breeze, and quiet beaches made it an ideal place to relax. Good place for rest with affordable and a cheapest price in DSM also within the reach of city and the Airport too.

The rooms have a bit of smell, sometimes the elevator doesn’t work and you’d have to use the stairs all the way to the fifth floor.

The quilt and pillow have a strange smell. The bathroom is relatively clean. The facilities and equipment are not new, but they can all be used normally

Room cleaning done in first day and last day only. Breakfast was not the best. The water issue shall be solved. The hot water which you find in the breakfast has bad taste because it is a water filled from tanks and is not hygienic. Internet is weak.

So basically it was a wonderful experience all in all but the issue I had is that a few or most of the servants somehow don't understand you weather u speak in English or Swahili and the WiFi was down the entire time which if u don't have a line it will be tht u can't do anything...

Okay rooms for the price. We were unlucky and had to change rooms 2 times because of AC not working. Service below average - toilet paper was missing in the toilets, and because the staff does not speak English that well, there is a lot if misunderstandings. Average cleanliness. However, for our 4 night stay it worked out nice as a budget option.

The location was excellent, but the room looked grimey with cockroaches roaming around and an old dirty bar fridge not working . The bathroom leaked and the floor was wet . The breakfast was good though, it exceeded my expectations. The staff were incredibly friendly.

Their rooms are plain and my room in particular kept having power issues that I learnt to resolve myself because the hotel staff weren't proactive enough. I can't outright condemn them as bad but they're not good either. The location though and safety around the area is top notch. Cost me 65,000 Tanzanian shillings...

Good price and a very good location close to the ferry's to Zanzibar. It was one of the worst breakfasts ever experienced on my 2 trips to Africa. Very hot inside since no air conditioning, only in the rooms.

Good location - in the center of everything in Stone town. They don’t have water coolers for clients - you have to go to the restaurant to refill. Also: it seems they bought another building. It's was a unique experience! The reception and the front of the hotel are the Mbweni Ruins and the rooms are at the back facing the ocean. Rooms are comfortable although there were power outages here and there for short periods of time. Staff are awesome. Friendly and very helpful. Food from breakfast to dinner was delicious. The beach was awesome with great sunsets. Had a two twin bed room that was converted to a queen by combining the beds. Room was clean enough but the tiles were an off brown that made them look not so clean. The staff is very helpful, but like most islands things just tend to be slower. This is probably the best hotel I've ever stayed in! It's beautifully situated INSIDE the ruins. The rooms are lovely and spacious - immaculately clean. The grounds are gorgeous. And above all, the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful - particularly manager Issa. He personally went above and beyond helping me with a special matter. Can't say enough good things.
