Reviews
Of the minuses - not fresh repairs in the bathroom, very hard mattresses.
We spent five nights at this property. We'd already indicated that we were vegetarian when booking and reiterated this at check-in, but the breakfast service was disappointing, to say the least. On our first day, they served us chicken rice, even though we'd requested rice with eggs and no meat. After pointing out the mistake, they brought us the same dish with a few pieces of chicken removed by hand. The situation didn't improve in the following days: nonexistent omelets (they brought us just one egg rolled in breadcrumbs and fried potatoes), tiny portions of scrambled eggs, and simple requests treated like favors. On our last day, a buffet appeared, but with the same options: rice, eggs, and meat. For a week, we basically always had two eggs and a bit of rice for breakfast. Breakfast also included coffee, a bottle of water, a commercial juice, and a couple of slices of fruit. Totally inadequate for the price.
The facility isn't bad, but there are some questionable details: the synthetic grass, the rooms smaller than advertised, and the incredibly hard beds (more like benches than mattresses). The air conditioning is aimed directly at your head, making it impossible to sleep without improvising a barrier.
The first night was unacceptable: some of the staff (8-10 people) started shouting and arguing drunkenly at 10 PM, right in front of our sea-facing room. The noise continued until well past 2 AM, waking us up several times. We called the reception emergency number and were assured it wouldn't happen again, but it's still unfortunate that the people causing the disturbance were hotel employees. The lack of security was evident: there were no guards or staff, and we felt completely unprotected. It's noteworthy that when Thai and Asian guests arrived in the following days, similar incidents didn't occur.
From the next day, the staff treated us coldly and sarcastically: the receptionist even jokingly asked us if we'd slept well. Room cleaning was superficial: only sheets and towels were changed, while everything else was neglected. Beach towels were never spontaneously changed, and every morning we had to ask for them, receiving dirty looks, despite it being the rainy season and it being impossible to dry them ourselves.
Overall, we never felt comfortable. The rooms appear recently renovated, but are already in disrepair. If you're looking for comfort, look elsewhere. Furthermore, the beach—though very beautiful—has dirty lounge chairs unless you specifically request cleaning, and games like kayaking cost 300 baht per hour. Don't underestimate the sandflies, which bite everywhere: no one at the hotel warns you, and without repellent, your stay becomes a nightmare.
Finally, the area is not suitable for couples or families, with clubs and bars full of patrons accompanied by "young ladies."
In conclusion, the hotel doesn't live up to the reviews we'd read at all. Perhaps local guests receive different treatment, but given the prices reserved for foreigners, the experience was unacceptable. Much better accommodations can be found nearby for just €5-10 a night. This hotel has great potential, but the staff doesn't seem interested in making it work, nor in making Western tourists feel welcome. The constant impression was that we were a nuisance rather than a paying guest.
