Lani Chiang Mai Hotel in Chiang Mai City

I've never stayed in a 'four-star hotel' like this in all my years. This isn't an industry-certified star rating; it's just what Ctrip designated.
There are no proper reception staff or bellboys like you'd find in a regular hotel, just one person manning the front desk. It feels more like someone's private home with a caretaker.
Regardless, you only get one room card per room. If two of you are staying, you'll always have to be together. Otherwise, the person without the card can't get in, and even if the hotel swipes your card for the elevator or room, you can't get electricity.
If you lose your room card, you'll be charged 1000 Thai Baht. This rule wasn't posted anywhere or mentioned in the check-in information. You only find out when you tell them your card is missing, and then you see the staff's eager, almost gleeful, reaction.
Whenever you enter or leave the hotel, the front desk staff always eyes you suspiciously, like a thief.
This hotel offers no service, and the staff's attitude is consistently poor. If you're looking for warm service, you've come to the wrong place. But if you want a cold, contactless, self-isolated space, this is it.
