Saithong Guest House Old City in Chiang Mai City

The hotel is located in a quiet, secluded spot away from the main street. I was on the first floor, and while there weren't any noisy guests, the room was right next to a walkway, which might be an issue for light sleepers. The room itself was comfortably minimalist, and I slept really well, as the bed springs suited me perfectly. My only reservation was the combined toilet and shower, which I found a bit off-putting. Overall, considering the price, it's a comfortable place to stay.

The place is cozy for me. I just back to sleep. Everything just work well for me. They clean room daily, change towel 1-2days, overall is fine for me.

The rooms were more spacious than they appeared in the photos. The hotel has a cozy, authentic feel (though it's not new). The air conditioning worked perfectly, daily water deliveries were appreciated, and the cleaning service was discreet (though they skipped if you were in the room).
While other reviews mention mosquitoes, we didn't encounter any.

Highlights include a charming outdoor seating area perfect for tea. Downsides are dim lighting and a lack of bathroom privacy due to a half-height door.

The owner is diligent and friendly, and the room is spotless. You can tell they put a lot of effort into decorating it. The owner also lives there and has a cute cat. However, it's an old building, so it's a bit damp. If you prefer modern luxury, this might not be the place for you. But if you're looking for convenience and don't have high demands for room amenities, this hotel is perfect. It's close to Tha Phae Gate, making it easy to get anywhere.

I prefer staying in the Old City over Nimman Road.

Overall, I'd recommend this place. Here are the pros:
1. The guy working here is super friendly, approachable, and very diligent. He's always patient and helpful with any questions, and he makes the bed daily. Every time I came back after exploring, the room was perfectly tidy.

2. The location is incredibly convenient. Tha Phae Gate is just 100 meters to the left when you exit. The Chiang Mai Women's Correctional Institution and many famous temples are all within 1 km. Plus, the biggest Sunday night market is right here! It's so lively!

3. The room is easy to find. It's in the alley opposite the BYD car dealership, the second place on the left once you're in the alley. Look for the sign with the little wooden house.

The cons are acceptable to me. While the room might not look as bright and modern, it has a lot of authentic Thai charm, which I really love!
There's no toothbrush, so you'll need to bring your own toothpaste.

The price is usually around 800 baht a night.

Beautiful traditional Thais house, located quietly in a alley. Bathroom is Thais and after shower toilet is all wet. Nice host.

This place perfectly captures the slow pace of ancient city life. The courtyard, with its pond, fish, cats, and flowers, feels incredibly serene and inviting—it’s perfect for a relaxing stay. The room itself was clean and tidy. Five-star recommendation! The staff, especially the gentlemen helping out, were very friendly.

I personally really love this style. The main reason is that the front desk staff, who I believe is from Myanmar, was incredibly thoughtful, attentive, responsible, and very polite. This adds a huge amount of value to the hotel. I'll definitely be staying here every time I come to Chiang Mai.
