Prince Hotel Chiang Mai in Chiang Mai City

I stayed at this establishment for over six weeks. Its drawbacks: - Outdated, old-fashioned equipment that really needs replacing (in the rooms and around the pool where the sun loungers are ancient... when you don't fall over using them) and there aren't enough for everyone... - The overall layout could be better maintained, especially around the pool, which is sometimes rather pathetic: statues placed here and there without any real coherence, and a garden that deserves more attention to be more attractive and cozy. - Continuous construction work for six weeks, resulting in constant daily disturbances (noise, dust, etc.). - The pool water was very cold in January and February. - The shower plumbing is ancient, and the water pressure on the upper floors requires patience. - The windows offer poor sound insulation for the rooms facing the street, and Chiang Mai is a city that goes to bed very late and gets up very early. Its advantages: - Its location; Close to the old town center on foot and with plenty of amenities nearby, including numerous dining options starting at 40 baht, plus its authentic neighborhood where everyone is charming, traditional shops for everyday needs, and the Warorot market, a must-see. (This area is the complete opposite of Nimman, the overrated and trendy district of Chiang Mai, but has managed to retain its authenticity and reflects the "real" Chiang Mai and its traditions.) There are many temples and sights to see in the surrounding area. The rooms are clean and comfortable if you're not too demanding, but overall it's adequate. The staff is lovely and accommodating. There's ample parking for cars and motorbikes. All this while being relatively inexpensive. In short, the Prince Hotel is an establishment with great untapped potential, best suited to travelers looking for budget-friendly options who appreciate its practical features and ideal location, without focusing too much on comfort, style, or outdated infrastructure. But the hotel owner shouldn't rest on his laurels, as the competition is fierce in Chiang Mai, even in this price range, or even for just €10 more per night. He has considerable potential that could be significantly improved for the comfort of his guests with inexpensive and simple initiatives, but it doesn't seem to be his priority, even though the hotel appears to be very busy.
