Amata Lanna Chiang Mai One Member of The Secret Retreat in Chiang Mai City

We especially loved the location of this hotel, a very quiet street but so central and easily accessible by foot to the walls. The staff were very helpful and thoughtful. The room was absolutely stunning. We would have no hesitation returning to this hotel.

Amata Lanna is a wonderful small hotel to stay at. The staff headed by Kenlaya, with Icey and Jang her excellent assistants are extremely helpful, friendly and kind as is the rest of the support staff. Breakfast is included in the cost of the stay with cold items to chose from and cooked dishes prepared for you from their Thai and Western food offerings.
We were taught by the staff to make krathongs , a small boat made of banana tree and banana leaves and are decorated with flowers, candles and incense. These boats are placed on the river to send off all the negative things of the past year and to start anew. We took our krathongs to a Wat (temple) down the street. After lighting the candle and incense we placed it onto the Ping River to float away .

Resort is very clean and quiet, located outside the old city. But it’s very easy to assess to old city by taking Grab. And the staff are friendly.

Staff were charming, helpful and efficient. The spacious room was beautifully cleaned and maintained. The environment was calm and peaceful. It is well located in a busy town, close enough to walk to restaurants, markets, etc, but without being in the middle of the bustle.. Breakfast offered a limited but totally adequate choice. A lovely place to stay.

We really enjoyed our stay here! The location is great — close to the downtown area but tucked away in a small alley, so it’s peaceful and quiet. The staff were all super friendly, especially the lady working the night shift.

One of the highlights was a sweet black cat named Lucky. He joined us in the courtyard one evening while we relaxed with some fried chicken wings and a couple of beers — such a simple but perfect moment.

The rooms are decorated in a Northern Thai style, full of character and charm. Because of all the beautiful wood used throughout, there’s a bit of a damp smell, probably inevitable (maybe slightly from the courtyard pool too). The wooden furniture also makes some noise — opening and closing the cabinets (even the fridge is inside one) can be loud, and since the soundproofing isn’t great, we could sometimes hear our neighbors.

Still, the hotel is small, cozy, and beautifully designed — full of personality. Breakfast was a nice surprise: there’s a small self-service corner with salad, toast, and cereal, plus four à la carte Thai and Western plate (like toast, sausage, and omelet) that you can order from the staff.

Honestly, I’d love to come back again — mostly because of Lucky. He really made the place feel like home. ☺️

I like the hotel. The staffs are so friendly and helpful . They also shared some culture in Chiangmai with us. I appreciate that. How can we miss their smiles?

An amazing hotel just outside the old town of Chiang Mai. The staff were exceptional and the breakfast was so good! The pool was a tad cold though…
