Şehir Hotel Old City in Istanbul

Dirty and run-down hotel, nothing like the photos published. The room had a strong smell of paint, the windows didn't close properly and let in noise from the street. The bathroom was disgusting.
The breakfast... very little was edible, the coffee was awful.
A hotel only for locals, the only notable thing was the location, but that didn't make up for the terrible experience we had there.

Do not believe the reviews, please! This hotel was a nightmare! The people who work there and the owner were very kind, but this does not take away from the horror experience we had.
We came all the way from our flight with 4(!) kids only to end up in an airco stinking, shower broken and straight up disgusting bathroom that had filth under the toilet seat and hair in the sink. It wa 35 celcius and the airco didn't give off a lot of coolness only a nasty smell.
To make it even worse there were hairs all over the matress.
The electricity went out (that can happen!) But we were on the top floor where the elevator was not working (once again: that can happen) but then the STAIRS WERE FULL WITH RUBBISH FROM A REBUILD. We had to CLIMB over stairs full of rebuilding objects and then when we asked the personel to give us back our money we got back only half.
We went to an amazing other hotel where we loved it and our basic needs were met! I hope this hotel works on their hygiëne beceause once again the people who run it were very kind.
We are not luxurious people: we are very easy going so to be this dissapointed is actually sad.
Hopefully this will change: but the reviews are NOT true!

the hotel is bad, the breakfast is bad, but the location is good. when we went down for breakfast, they told us there were cannibals. we acted like we didn't understand, and we'd already bought breakfast with the room, which is not nice. ı was really upset. the staff was terrible; only one person was kind. ı forget his name, but ı'm grateful to the man with the blue eyes; he was very helpful.

We stayed for 3 nights. Poor maintenance (slanted doors, broken windows, etc.) and dirty (shower, sink, soap dispenser, toilet). Breakfast was poor (tables and utensils). Good location, 19 minutes from mosques and bazaars.

Hello, I see most of the comments giving 4 stars. I will try to give the most honest review possible. I booked in the hotel located next to Arges old City arrived on site The Mr told us that they will take us back to Sehir hotel. He insisted that it was the same owner brothers according to him, we had booked for 40m2 we find ourselves 5 in a room that is barely 20m2. We say nothing until then the staff not friendly except the Mr at the reception who is there during the week. The location nothing to say but if I were you I would never go to this hotel dirty room shower room lots of broken things. The staff when it is not us who say hello, do not even notice and, they do not even answer when we say hello. The only point as I said the location. Otherwise even the sheets they do not change.

Don’t book here in this hotel. We were 4 adults and a baby. We arrived at 7pm tired and long time flight and terrible traffic. Then they said we can’t stay in Sehir hotel, but other hotel which is their other hotel it took 30min far away. And there all furniture are bad, dirty. Disgusting. 🤢 it is just spam they use us.
