The Defne Defnem is a rather low-end 5-star hotel. In my opinion, whether you are satisfied here depends largely on your previous experiences with 5-star hotels and your expectations as a result.
The building is new and impressive, the rooms are large, and the beds are very comfortable. The waiters mix very good cocktails with proper proportions. The beach with its own sun loungers and the beach bar right next to it are great.
When it comes to food, things get tricky. Every meal has some tasty items, but also some really bad ones. For example, there is never freshly ground coffee, only Jacobs instant coffee machines.
There is one (!!) type of sliced cheese that is cut into 6 different varieties and served on 6 different plates to give the impression of a large selection (see pictures). This cheese is terribly tasteless. We were there for a week. There was never any more choice. If you like cheese, this is not the place for you. The sausage is also not worthy of a 5-star hotel. The breakfast is rather disappointing for a German palate.
Nevertheless, we always found something tasty to eat, especially for lunch and dinner, if you're not too picky.
The adjacent street is still busy and quite noisy at night, which can be a problem if you are a light sleeper and your room is on the wrong side. The air conditioning is turned off at midnight, which made it very warm at night.
However, it is also cheaper than other 5-star hotels.
The only complaint I have was the wifi, it doesnt work in the rooms, that made my stay uncomfortable as I needed to pay a lot of money for data in my country.
