Claims to be 5*. DEFINITELY not.
The rumours outdated and we bought through was full of holes. The location is excellent with the Barbican centre nearby and South London easily accessible by bus or public transport.
The breakfast was absolutely superb best thing about it.
The so-called executive lounge is not worth the salt it's upon. Highly restrictive service and offerings they need to reconsider this immediately.

Hotel is excellent, not only on location but all the staff we came across were incredible. We had booked a particular room and unfortunately we were not giving it. We queried this aa the room giving had stairs (duplex suite). The room itself was lovely just unsuitable with person who can't do stairs very well. The duty manager (Renjit, sorry about spelling) was absolutely outstanding in resolving this issue. We were issued a new room (across the street) in the Montcalm Townhouse. The room was fabulous and the service recovery exceeded our expectations. I will definitely return to this hotel. Thank you to all the staff who went above and beyond to make our stay a memorable one.

Looks like a luxury hotel hotel on the site, but we were staying in a room over the road from the main hotel. I do not feel we had had a 5* stay sadly. The room was so cold initially. They did solve this by bringing a heater, but we were cold for over an hour. The room was very clean and bathroom stunning, but whole room was not luxury or 5*. Empty kitchen area with a couple of bowls and spoons and coffee/tea. We also had a broken nights sleep due to a connecting room being too loud. Not the hotel's fault, but the connection to the rooms and other guests. Breakfast was delicious, but not sure it's worth £24.50 each. Comfortable bed, but being away from main hotel we feel we did not get the 5* luxury experience we were hoping for. We usually book budget hotels but was hoping for more from this stay.

Location is wise but no elevator in the hotel so have to carry the big luggages in & up especially during check out.
Anyway the breakfast area is cute

Lovely foyer with complimentary cold drinks and biscuits.
Clean room with good quality toiletry products.
The bed was very comfortable with a good selection of pillows.

Nothing was bad but nothing was great either. The pheasant mains were dry. Was hoping for better from a place designed around game food. Would give it another go though, as it's a very nice setting and I've heard good things before.

Ate here are part a deal with the Montcalm hotel. I booked dinner for 8.30 and let them know we were dining as part of the offer.

On arrival I was glad we had booked as it was very busy so one might have expected a delay with service, however we were not informed of this and had to let them know we were dining as part of an offer as there is a special menu.

Starter was delicious but it went down hill from there. Our main arrived before our wine (we didn't order wine until after starter as received a glass of prosecco at the start of the meal). Desert was nothing really to should about.

Service was very slow, had to wait to long to get/pay for the bill. Our coats were collected from the cloak room and dumped on us.

I would possibly drink in the bar area but very put off by the restaurant and wouldn't recommend.

This was my second visit, the food as always was excellent and the restaurant has a nice ambience but sadly the service is not up to standard. We had 4 or 5 different people serve us throughout the meal and none of them seemed particularly interested (the same thing happened in my previous visit). For the price you would expect to feel a bit more looked after.

Very diverse and gamey menu. Lots of fowl but also a good mix of beef, pork and other dishes including their famed hare which is exactly what it sounds like (a slow roasted hare that is served in a jug or large pitcher with hare blood). They also commonly have a fish dish on the daily menu. It's a great atmosphere and incredible menu. I liked but did not love my meals. In my opinion you go here for the experience first and meals second.

I've always wanted to have some food here, and this was the first time I visited. As expected, the prices are above average, but I do enjoy the food. I had a meaty pie of the day, it made me happy... My friend and I were both surprised by the service though. They didn't seem to know what was happening.
