Reviews
Room very small and not warm.
Facilities not good
Location is everything with this hotel.
Yes they are small rooms. And bathrooms and a bit dated. But when in London sight seeing/concerts all you need is some why to sleep after a busy day.
All clean. White linen & towels
we did not need assistance from the staff but they were always at the front desk smiling a greeted us in a friendly manner.
Only downside to this hotel is there is no lifts and going up the stairs can be difficult for some.
I would recommend and will be returning
‼️LOOKS NOTHING LIKE THE PICS‼️DO NOT BOOK HERE‼️ It’s very very run down & in urgent need of attention. This place shouldn’t be advertising. I booked this hotel for 2 nights on arrival I was given rm 401, this was up 5-6 steep flights of stairs & the hand rails very loose. The guy on reception never offered to carry our bags knowing how many flights it was with a child & no lift. Finally made it opened door & was met by a strong smell of stale smoke once opening the door u took 4 steps inside & your at the bed. There was no room for anything, but I thought it’s only 2 nights. I found a phone in the wardrobe & called reception & asked if we could be moved lower down we couldn’t manage all those stairs daily he said he was fully booked but could move us tomorrow. So we’re sat on the bed & decided to open a window as the smell was bad, opened the curtains to find 2 massive cracks in the windows so I darent touch the window, the window was right under the bed.on closer inspection there was a very bad draft whistling threw the window & noticed the window wasn’t fully closed & wouldnt close so wind was whipping threw the gap making the room freezing. There was no kettle as advertised, I’d hardly call the tiny thing on the wall a tv and the fan is the air con the room was filthy & the headboard stank it was supposed to be white but was smoke stained, I did not feel safe sleeping in this room so spent the next 30-40mins looking for another hotel by this time it was nearly 7pm.went to reception & the security guard was laid on the settee in the lounge I asked if he could call the manager as the room isn’t safe & I want a refund he said I’d need to speak to trip.com.Trecked to the other side of London with my son to another hotel, got comfy and then contacted trip.com to let them know what had happened. They called me back at about 8-9pm & told me to go back we could stay at their sister hotel. I explained I had already purchased other accomodation & wasn’t prepared to trek back to the other side of London with a child so late. Several Phone calls happened over the next few days putting a dampener on our short stay. Trip.com refused to give me a full refund even after I sent pictures of evidence. Late the next day trip.com called me to say I couldn’t have a refund as the hotel had been paid & refused to give a refund! But as compo they’d give me half back. This hotel is NOTHING like the pics, trip.com advertise as being on the customers side & u can GUARANTEE travel “worry free” well that’s certainly not the case. They still expected me to stay there with a child. A full refund shouldn’t of being a problem. Look at the pics yourself & make up your own mind. The only good thing about this place was the location & newly fitted bathroom. This place shouldn’t be open for business!!! The owner should accept responsibility & give a full refund!!!
Starting with the positives: the location is great. Being a stones throw from Paddington Train and Tube stations make it an ideal locstion to explore London from and to travel to other parts of the country. Hyde Park is about a 10 to 15 minute walk from the hotel. This was the reason I booked the hotel; however, there are many other hotels with great locations, so please do read the reviews carefully if you want to have a relaxing and comfortable place to sleep in at the end of a long day of sightseeing.
Amenities: quite frankly the hotel is run down, badly maintained, dirty and unsafe. The carpets are extremely old, dirty and smelly. The pillows are covered with stains, bathroom tiles are broken and every surface is in need of a new paint of coat. The stairs are extremely steep and some of the handrails are not fit for purpose. These are just a few things, the list is endless.
Service: Check-in was unpleasant. The front desk staff was not friendly and was only interested in having us sign a card to say the hotel is not responsible if valuables go missing from our room. This made me us feel uneasy right away.
Breakfast was basic, but decent enough. The two ladies who serve breakfast and the nightshift front desk worker are the best thing about this hotel and I sincerely hope they are highly appreciated by the hotel manager.
As a Brit, I am very disappointed that this hotel may be the first and last impression that visitors from other countries have of the UK.
My overall rating is 1. The location rsting on all the reviews make the hotel seem better than it is.
To the owners/managers, please spend some money on improving the hotel facilities. You will make more money in the long run.
Firstly, I would like to highlight the positive aspect of our stay, which was the great location of the hotel. It was conveniently situated near various attractions and amenities, allowing us to easily explore the area. This was definitely a major advantage during our visit.
However, we were disappointed with the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the hotel. The rooms appeared to be in need of a deep cleansing, as there were noticeable stains on the carpets and walls. Additionally, the furniture and fixtures seemed worn out and outdated. A fresh coat of paint and new beds would greatly enhance the overall appearance and comfort of the rooms.
Furthermore, we found the lack of a welcoming lobby person to be quite disappointing. Upon arrival, we were not greeted or assisted by any staff members. This lack of hospitality made us feel unwelcome and left a negative impression.
In conclusion, while the location of the hotel was excellent, we believe that improvements are necessary to enhance the overall guest experience. A thorough cleaning, along with updates to the rooms and furniture, would greatly improve the comfort and aesthetics of the hotel. Additionally, having a friendly and welcoming lobby person would contribute to a more positive and enjoyable stay.
P.S. positive side- I truly appreciate the staff at the hotel who made the effort to move us to a more convenient floor. Additionally, it's always a pleasant experience when the breakfast lady is friendly and accommodating.
(No elevator/lift)
(I paid too much for 3nights so I was expecting a good place to relax after 27hours of travelling with a toddler).
Cafe and Restaurants near hotel
Friendly staff and quick service.
Tried their fish and chips, and it was good.
Would definitely visit again if in the area or travelling from Paddington station.
