Great pub for coach days out and lots of space

A lovely warm welcome by the staff. The hotel was very clean and had great facilities in the room - kettle, tea, coffee, biscuits, towels, soap, shower gel. Great location for the O2. No parking on site but we use the just park app and parked on someone's driveway which was also great. Lots of steps up to the bedrooms which might not be suitable for all abilities. Definitely would use The Angerstein again.

This is a great place to stay just outside of central London. The closest train station is a 2 minute walk to the end of the road with fast, frequent and cheap transport to London. A 25 minute stroll to the O2 is also a big plus. There is a shopping a 10 minute walk up the road and there are restaurants in the immediate vicinity, parking in the roads didn't seem like it would be a problem. A couple calling a local taxi got collected in 5 minutes so this place is really well serviced from a transport perspective. The hotel is well looked after, very tidy and clean. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere in the Bar is really good. We arrived during a big game being shown on the TV's and everyone was having a good time. Despite being on a junction of a main road a good nights sleep was had by all, we weren't woken up by the usual sirens into the night that plague central London. No issues with the shared facilities, clean towels were provided each day and the beds made, coffee refreshes/replaced in the rooms etc, We didn't hear any raised voices or shouting in, around or outside the hotel during our stay so we felt it is a nice, safe, place to stay.

Beers are great quality, writing this on behalf of my mate and unfortunately he told me that the hand dryer was below his usual standard, he had to blow on his own hands. Up the City 🦊

Conveniently close to everything, the area was quite quiet and the staff was very helpful and nice, especially Katie. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. The shared showers and toilets were really clean and pleasant to use. Best regards, four traveling Finns

Had a few beers at the Angerstein Hotel as it was the designated pub for Wrexham fans when playing Charlton Athletic, the pub does not look much from the outside but inside I had a surprise it was very nice and the service was second to none they even had Burgers etc at decent prices a pint of Stella I think cost me £5.Only a mile walk to the ground .

We really thought this was a lovely little pub/hotel. We travelled from up north as our team were playing Charlton this hotel was perfect as it’s close to the ground but also a 2 min walk from the train station so getting into London is so easy. The rooms were nice and clean and the staff were very friendly, we arrived way before check in but asked if we could leave our bags and the staff were kind enough to let us into our room early! Personally I think this is a perfect little base especially if you want to explore London. If Charlton are still in league 1 next season we will definitely return!

Pleased I stumbled across this hotel when searching for places to stay after a gig at the O2 - far more reasonably priced than other hotels in the area! We were given a very warm welcome by Donna and Steve (hope I've remembered your names correctly!) upon arrival and were shown to our room. Be prepared that you will have to show them ID and provide your credit card details when you check in (which were written down on a slip of paper) - I was reassured that these would be shredded after we checked out and I would only be charged if we smoked in the room or it was damaged in any way. I am now reading from others that this is illegal (?)/dodgy, but having checked my bank account a few days later, I have not been charged and will have to trust that they have disposed of my details safely. The hotel is currently undergoing renovations (which they were very open about) so don't expect The Ritz - but all the parts we saw look good so far and the room was generally in good, clean condition (bedside cabinets had peeling paint, but this is nothing major and again, we were aware that renovations are ongoing. There were no other issues in the room besides this). The room was a good size, the bed linen was clean and fresh and the mattress and pillows were comfy. I'm aware that many of the rooms here have a shared bathroom/toilet, but we specifically booked an en-suite twin room and this too was spotless, with clean towels and soap provided. Be aware that there are lots of steep stairs to the rooms due to the building's age - this was not an issue for us, but may be something to consider if you are less able bodied. There is free Wifi in the rooms - we could not connect to the main hotel Wifi as it said the password provided was incorrect, but we managed to connect to the bar Wifi instead and this worked fine. The hotel itself is a 30ish minute walk to the O2 and the tube station, but I saw from other reviews that the buses only take 10 minutes from here which is fab. I would stay here again if I was going to the O2 (which I probably will at some point!), and would recommend to others for a well-priced and clean place to put your head down.

Shouting screaming at 8 am in the morning from chamber maids folding sheets floor outside room on the floor?! To.later be put in customers beds? Swearing from staff and an extremely loud Party underneath our bedroom downstairs until 12 midnight pounding and reverbersting against our roims walls until 12 oclock night.

Too sweet masala (what’s this new trend of making dishes tasting of nothing but coconut?!), pickles too salty. Too little meat in the curry. Masala is so red it looks like food colouring.

We used the home delivery service for Tandoori King Prawn masala and lamb masala. Both dishes were very sweet and the colour looked artificial. The prawn masala only had 3 pieces of prawn with plenty of sweet sauce. As far as I know, Indian food is never sweet. Very disappointed.

A lovely and peaceful place to spend my Friday evening. Cool and fresh atmosphere. Top staff and service couldn't ask for any better. Food was delicious and staff were very attending. Will be back soon.

As local residents, we really like this small local restaurant. The food is (contrary to another review here) not at all oily. Samosa and Bhaji are superb, as are the main dishes. Generous portions at fair prices. This is my 'go to' curry restaurant in SE London. Of course it can get busy on Fridays and Saturdays and so inevitably waiting times will be a little longer. In my view, if a full order arrives inside 40 minutes it is probably not prepared freshly to order.
