Maison 140 in Los Angeles

Here’s my honest review of Maison 140 Beverly Hills, where I stayed for a full week:
The location is great—close to Rodeo Drive and within walking distance of shops and restaurants, which was definitely the highlight of my stay.
That said, for a “four-star” hotel in Beverly Hills, this property is nowhere close to that standard. While the staff were overall helpful and accommodating, the property itself needs significant work. The carpets were extremely filthy and discolored, and the lobby bar was never open, which made the experience feel nothing like what’s advertised on the website. Many of the amenities shown online (such as the gym) are actually located at a sister property several blocks away, which was disappointing and not clearly communicated.
The rooms had broken furniture, a noticeable moldy smell, and stains on the upholstered bed frame. To their credit, the staff did take the time to show me multiple rooms until I found one I felt more comfortable in. The room I switched to was in better condition—meaning it wasn’t as smelly and the furniture wasn’t broken—but I still had to purchase fabric spray and Glade plug-ins to mask the lingering odor.

A few additional notes:

Microwaves are only available upon request, and you have to call the front desk for one to be brought up.

Housekeeping was polite and consistent, and the sheets were changed daily, which I appreciated.

The website states checkout is at 12:00 noon, but a little after 11:00 a.m. I received calls from the front desk asking if I was checking out. When I mentioned the noon checkout time, I was told it was a “discrepancy,” and someone also knocked on my door, which felt rushed and unprofessional.

Overall: Great location and kind staff, but the condition of the property, misleading amenities, and inconsistencies with service make it hard to recommend—especially given the price point and the expectations of a Beverly Hills four-star hotel.

This is by far the worst experience I’ve had at a hotel. The staff at first was making it very difficult to get to my room, making it such a bizarre and unfriendly welcoming. The hotel is so dingy, from the severely stained hallway floors, to the dirty curtains and bedding in my room. Even the complimentary lotion and soap were dirty and used. There’s no heater and there’s no hot water. Despite asking for help on this, I got ignored. The icing on the cake was finding bugs on my bed. The only positive side was the location of the hotel. Overall this place is not worth your time or money.
