Where to stay in Honolulu

What can I say - i mean this hotel is a 5 minute walk from work which is just perfect. And the hotel is old, yes, and it doesnt have many facilities, yes, but it did what it was supposed to, to give me a place to rest and put my head down for a good night sleep and it did exactly that. I am happy. I would use it again.

The hotel's location is okay, but it's on the edge of Waikiki, about a half-hour walk to the center, so it's not very convenient. The hotel facilities are old; the paint is peeling, the wallpaper is torn, the pillows are worn out, and the amenities look very dated, probably not renovated in 20 years. Daily cleaning is a plus, though. The price is acceptable; it's alright for the price.

More than adequate for an overnight stay. Very good location near Waikiki Beach, with its shops and restaurants. The amenities are perfectly adequate (air conditioning, refrigerator, coffee maker, TV), the room is clean, the bed is comfortable, and there's even a small (clean) pool right behind the bar. All in all, it's very good value for money.

Room was comfortable, but bathroom very tight and in need of a little repair work. Food was delicious at the bar and service was very friendly.

Nice hotel. Some nice bell's and whistles. Only major problems I saw was mold in air dryer vents. The service is pretty good.

The room was better than most I've stayed at on Oahu. decently clean, an air conditioner that will actually cool the room, and a fridge. The shower was horrible though. It was the handicap accessible type shower head, in a normal tub. The shower hose was situated upwards, so gravity would make it kink unless you wrapped it around the top post of the holder, and the head would pop out of the holder...

Waitress was fantastic. We had to wait to be seated because the hostess was fixing problems with a take out order. But once we were seated, it was great!

Stayed in a room with a king bed and a pull out couch. Beds were comfortable and clean. Room was quite small but functional. Had almost no balcony and the balcony doors let in a lot of the noise from the street. Pool was in the shade most of the day. However it is very close to the beach so the shady pool wasn't the worst thing.

Big disappointment. You would think from the location and all the big hotels around that it would be top notch. My room was comfortable, but that was about it. The frig was super small that you couldn't get more that three items in it. It's a good thing it had a shower, because the tub was literally only about 3 feet long. My wife and I were amazed at how clean and spacious it was. We got a standard room with King bed which was totally comfortable. The location is great, right behind the Hyatt. There is a little noise at night, but it's not too much of a bother. There is free water and coffee, and the receptionist was very friendly!

Extreme odor nuisance from food stalls directly in front of the hotel, which made its way into our room (even through the air conditioning).

It was about 50 minutes from the airport to the hotel by city bus (3 dollars), and it was close to Waikiki Beach, and there were many restaurants and a shopping mall nearby, so I was satisfied. It was nice that I could rent beach chairs, towels, and other water play equipment for free, but the Wi-Fi in the room was not good, so I couldn't use it, which was inconvenient.

The location of the hotel is very good. It's only a 3-minute walk from the beach. The hotel also rents out beach chairs, parasols and swimming rings. The toilet in the room is very small and the cleaning is not complete. A Coke can was found under the bed, but the staff is friendly and it's very close to the bus station. , suitable for travelers who prioritize location.

The staff at the counter are very friendly and have a great attitude. The room is large. The location is very good, just across the street from Waikiki Beach. You can walk to the busiest street. It is very convenient. There are free rental floats and deck chairs downstairs. The price is OK.

Stayed here for over 2 weeks ! Hotel is clean. They have excellent customer service from the parking garage to the bell service. Housekeepers are very helpful and cheerful. The hotel was very clea an comfortable. My only complaint was checking in. There were only two clerks and a large number of us came in around the same time. Took about 45 minutes to check in but once I was at the counter it was quick. Full room cleaning service each day and the room was spotless.

First time staying here and I must admit I was rather impressed. The rooms are spacious and view can be amazing to if you get an ocean view. The only downside is parking…. Depending on the amount of traffic flowing in and out of the hotel you can find yourself waiting a few minutes for car. Self Parking is $38 and Valet Parking is $45. Valet parking is a much better option in my opinion.

It is located next to one of Hawaii's Most Famous Shopping Centers where there is shopping, food, and entertainment.

The staff was very nice. Management will only allow room cleaning after the 7th day but they do give you refills on any amenities. The pool and hot tub were great after long walks. Very outdated and musky smelling . Was there a week and one day had to ask for towels twice. The room did its job by allowing us to speep from 10 pm to 430 am but the hallways smell. So we stayed out. Quick distance to the beach and good food and shopping

The courtyard with tropical trees, small pool, and tiki theme restaurant was wonderful, we loved it. The front desk staff and house keepers were all friendly and very helpful. This building looked very old, but well maintained. Our room had newer kitchen and fridge, good for a long stay. No hidden charge at the check out, exactly as explained at the time of booking.

The balcony overlooked the beautiful pool area. Very colorful plants and flowers. 2 blocks from the beack. We were able to cook everything in our kitchenette. The only struggle was, there are only pots; no pans

Do not be put off by the dark check in area and the somewhat tired, old and shabby looking furniture in the guest area. This place is great!! service was fantastic, the room was clean and the beds very comfortable. We had a room on the top floor and had great views of the beach and the sea and the bays beyond Diamond Head. For what they charge it was excellent value. Will go again.

Stayed at an air bnb, service at the security desk was great, and the amenities the hotel offers are awesome. Pool and hot tub quite nice and never too busy to use. Barbecues that are available to use were great too since we didn't have an over and had a very small kitchen

Gorgeous views of the Mauka (mountain side) day and night. Upgraded to a suite which was more than enough space for two. Felt like home as this is a residential condo as well with a little kitchen and living room area. Best part was the views since it was a corner suite we got views of the city with open windows and a patio right from the bedroom showing partial ocean views. Definitely staying there...

It's alright. We don't hate it but definitely don't love it. We wouldn't choose to stay here again. The sliding door to balcony doesn't keep out any noise, so we constantly hear sirens, wind, cars, people at the pool, etc. Our room is also right next to a garbage chute... I think there are 42 floors, and we are on the 11th floor, so it gets pretty loud when people throw garbage down. There's a window...

The room was clean, and the cooking utensils and amenities were well-stocked. When items like detergent ran out, they promptly brought new supplies, which was helpful.

The size of the room, the facilities, and the view were truly amazing. However, it was disappointing that the cleanliness was poor from the start, with hair left in the toilet, trash in the drawers, and a clogged bathroom drain. I would like to use this room again if the cleaning is improved.

Loved this property for what we wanted but could use some updating. Loved it had washer and dryer and that the place provides the soap. Beds were comfy and lovely views

Room was nice, clean and well supplied. Locks were tricky and sliding glass door would stick. Blinds did nothing to block the light so if you need dark to sleep you'll have issues. Check in takes place at a building about a block away and with it being a one way street with no street parking it was difficult to check in.

The location was excellent and the view incredible. Condo was a bit dated but clean - except the bathroom /shower area (outside needed to be cleaned and we had to unclog the drain) - everywhere else was clean. Furniture a bit dated but not a big deal. Washer and dryer need to be replaced. The washer was SO loud and I was not sure it was safe to use with the noise it made, once we got it started...

There is a fee for storing your bag after check-in/check-out ($5 per bag). The towels in the room smelled moldy.

The room was average, not very big, but close to the city center and the beach.

The front desk staff was very kind and I was grateful. It was about a 15-minute taxi ride from the airport. It was around 11pm, so it was about $66 including the late-night fare. During the day, it was about $50.

No frills but it’s a bed and clean shower. Good discount stay.

The location was perfect for the couple of days I needed to be reasonably near the University of Hawaii. However, I was immediately turned off by the addition of a "resort fee" for so-called amenities that are of no use to me. Also, there was no maid service for the two nights I was there. I understand that Waikiki is expensive, but I would rate this a 2 Star hotel at best charging 4 Star prices. ...

The room itself was old and had a lot of issues, - the mini fridge, the tv, the wifi did not work. I got help getting the wifi but it is clearly a very old hotel. I was told the entire building had some new tv issue where it would only work with a new Smart Tv, but I am not really sure that is true. The bed was very comfortable and the room was air conditioned. The view was spectacular though!

The room was clean and well appointed, with an excellent view. The staff were courteous and helpful. I also enjoyed the 10th floor viewing deck. The location was convenient for activities and services. It was a good trip.

The pictures were not the room we had, we paid extra for the sz. of the room including a couch. But the views were the best!!! Internet service was aweful and the small table was missing the glass in the middle & only 1 chair, but the staff were friendly & accomodating as they could be since these rooms are privately owned. We paid extra but got less!!!

Not value for money The location was convenient and the staff were welcoming. The room, however, was not very clean and there were no services provided. Too much noise from outside while the property charged hidden fees as well, and different fees than what was communicated at the booking stage. A form of deceit there. This hotel is in a great location! Literally a block away from Waikiki beach, 15 min walk from Diamond Head, and a mile walk to Leonard's Bakery! The only downside is you have to pay a daily fee to use the parking garage, which since I was staying in the hotel I though would be included, they will also get you with a daily fee if the pool is open. Amazing place. I traveled solo with my 2yo and it was a blast. Great location, we had a view looking at diamond head. loved it. the playground is great. the elevators are annoying but no problem except one day, we had to walk and I carried my stroller down 11 flights of stairs hahah

AirBNB'd A room for a great deal of $100 a night. Was a comfortable nice room with the a fold out futon for the 3rd person of our group. The pool is very nice and clean. Ours came with parking included which was nice. It is a short walk to the beach and many hotels and Restaurants.

We stayed for 4 nights. The whole place is dated but a lot of Hawaii seems to be stuck in the glory days of the 80's. I was advised that all the holiday units are individually owned which explained how different all the rooms look. To quote "Some owners care about the appearance of the rooms and some don't." Great location with nice ocean views. Beach is a block away and waikiki shops and beach road are very close by. Suites are very spacious. Great hotel if you manage to get an upgraded suite. Rooms that are not upgraded are really dirty and filled with roaches. Room service is great.

Stayed in the Tapa Tower with a partial ocean view. The hotel feels like a big park, very suitable for families with kids. Hotels in Hawaii are generally a bit older, and this one has been renovated. The front desk service was just okay. The hotel has everything, including two Starbucks, so it's quite decent overall.

I paid an extra $150 to upgrade to an Alii Tower ocean view room, but the floor was too low, so the view wasn't ideal. The facilities are quite old, not even comparable to some budget chains back home. But its location and the view are unbeatable. It's just a 10-minute walk to the Alamo, and there's parking nearby if you're renting a car.

The room was spacious, and the complimentary breakfast and cocktail hour were truly appreciated. The omelets at breakfast were especially delicious. However, I did notice that hair accumulated in the bathroom area for several days, which was quite bothersome.

I booked a standard room, but I think it was off-peak season because they upgraded me to a room with an ocean view, which I was thrilled about! I stayed for 5 nights and was extremely satisfied with the breakfast buffet and evening alcoholic drinks. It's close to Waikiki Beach and the city center, making everything convenient. The kids absolutely loved it, and Embassy's service contributed to making our time there enjoyable and fly by. I'll definitely go again!

Clean room but hot tub was down almost our whole trip and pools closed super early 6pm. Washer & dryers didnt work well and hot water was out for awhile.

This property was great and we would stay here again. There are amazing pools and it’s in a very convenient location. The only issue was our laundry was stolen from the laundry room, this was disappointing and the hotel did not help look into security footage or seem too concerned.

This is a large property with great dining and shopping options. Our room was very spacious with a full kitchen and was comfortable for our family of four. One thing I noted was that in the bedroom there was no ac vent so if we slept with the door closed it got warm. The property is family oriented which means lots of kids ! There was construction going on in 6 floors of ajoining building and it was noisy. There was no notification when booking.

The hotel is old… bathroom is old , bath tub have stains, water shower weak , wall have stain and crack … room use too much air freshener . I can’t breathe.. A lot more negative 😢😢😢

◼️Good point ・Since this hotel is near downtown, it was easily go to restaurants, souvenir shops and Waikiki beach. ・Free tea, coffee and water is available in the lobby. ◼️Bad point ・Since the wall in our room was thin, it was noisy because of the outside noise. ・When I took a shower, the water was lukewarm. ・Our room was a little bit stinky.

Very good location, lots of bar and restaurants nearby. The staff is very friendly and cool. The housekeeping is on point, and there’s also a laundry in the hotel. The parking is quite expensive though (around 67$) so we canceled our car. It’s our second time here, we will definitely choose Ohia waikiki hotel again

The hotel's location is great, very close to Waikiki Beach and the shopping center. However, the condition of the hotel and the service were both just average.

Great hotel on the edge of Waikiki. Easy quick walk to all the hustle and bustle of Waikiki but just outside enough for it to be a bit calmer. Fort Derussy park is right next door which is a nice retreat for some quieter open relaxing space. Nicely furnished and equipped room. The included hula and music performance with wine and cheese was entertaining. Small but nice pool and functional gym.

Good location to walk to Old City area. Clean and comfortable rooms. convenient onsite marketplace.

The air conditioner is very loud and the curtains are only half full. The advantage is that the kitchen is fully equipped and you can cook your own meals.

Let’s get the bad out of the way first. Room service food that I ordered was $50 and the chicken strips and fries came from the in house restaurant and they are hard as a rock. Our unit had an old through the wall AC that couldn't really keep the place cool. Excellent location, wonderful little makeup / dressing area, functional kitchen and assigned parking (a HUGE plus). This unit needs maintenance (the tub was leaking and Hawaii is in a drought and the tub soap dish was filthy) but was comfortable for a short stay for two people. Excellent location for walking around Waikiki Beach area for meals, shopping and the beach. The free car parking was great. The room we had was in need of a new coat of paint on the walls and doors. Needs more bathroom supplies, we were only supplied with four bath towels and wash clothes for a 1 week stay. Excellent communication from the managing company.

No hairdryer, no kettle or pot for hot water – it was incredibly basic. Four people squeezed into a tiny room with no TV. There was a washing machine but no detergent. Definitely room for improvement, especially the air conditioning which was freezing cold and so loud it made it hard to sleep. Service, however, was decent.

It was really great to chat with friends from all over the world and go on adventures to volcanoes and waterfalls together. The room was also pretty good; I slept wonderfully every night. I'd definitely consider staying here again next time I'm in Honolulu!

The place is clean, beds are decent and rooms are clean. The staff are lovely and helpful. You can borrow stuff for the beach for free, free pancake Breakie and coffee, and towels to use. They organized activities and have tours you can book. Overall, little older building, but they keep it clean and can’t complain.

The location is fantastic! It's right by the bus stop and super close to the beach. The staff are really friendly, and there's coffee and muffins on the first floor. Plus, they offer free luggage storage and there's an open kitchen if you want to cook.

The room and facilities were clean and well-maintained. The bed creaked quite loudly, which was bothersome. I was in the upper bunk bed facing the hallway, but the window facing the hallway didn't have curtains, so the hallway lights were a bit dazzling. Coffee is provided in the morning.
