Shoxtut Hotel in Bukhara

When we checked in, all the rooms were dark and cold. There was nothing in the room, not even towels. The refrigerator was old and dirty 🤢 The furniture was also old, the rooms were tired. We left our bags for literally an hour, found another hotel, and wanted to check out. They charged us $40 for the night because they had already "checked us in" and now they "wouldn't be able to rent the room out" because we had already "used" the room and it was already "late." There wasn't even anything in the room to use, as we just left our bags and left. Booking.com says you can cancel until 6 PM, but it wasn't yet 6 PM. The hotel was full of empty rooms, so they could have easily rented it out. We spoke with the manager, who said the "owner" wouldn't allow it and would blame them for everything, charging them the amount. We were willing to pay the booking tax/commission, but not the full cost of the room, which we would still have the right to cancel at this point in time! He wouldn't let us speak with the owner, but he claimed he was monitoring our arrival and check-in on cameras. We ended up paying $30 for a night for a hotel where we weren't even staying. Judging by other reviews, where hotel also demanded money from guests, the owners don't care about tourists at all. They only want to rip off as much as possible and not invest, as all the rooms are old and in need of renovation and new furniture. I don't recommend it.

We came to the hotel, they told us to wait for one hour and after making us wait they told us they don’t have a room for us, because someone else prolonged their stay. After a long way with suitcases and bags, that’s the last thing you want to hear. I‘d advice you against this hotel in order to avoid the risk to find yourself in a very uncomfortable position.
