We were a little apprehensive before staying here as the reviews were quite mixed, but honestly we can’t understand why this hotel has been reviewed badly in the past — our experience was fantastic.
The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. It was a little warm when we arrived, but opening the window quickly sorted that out. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was excellent — exactly what you want after travelling.
The staff were lovely and really helpful. They stored our luggage for us, and the gentleman on reception even recommended a great video to watch as we had some free time the next day. That inspired us to head into the capital for some speedy sightseeing 😂
We also had an evening meal at the hotel, which was surprisingly good — not expensive at all and with a really decent menu for an airport hotel. A special mention for the bar too, where they even put the football on for my partner.
Breakfast was easy and impressive with plenty of choice, and they organised a free shuttle to the airport, which is incredibly close anyway. All in all, a very smooth, comfortable, and stress-free stay.
We would absolutely recommend this hotel and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. 👍

I have never felt so insecure in a hotel. Someone wanted to come to my room twice in the middle of the night.
It is extremely noisy; there is practically no sound insulation between the rooms, and noise from the corridor is practically non-existent.
Wifi is not working, the internet speed reminds me of the 90’.

Rooms are old, AC is loud and can barely warm room in winter. You can literally hear everything from room next door. Every noise from corridor is audible. Breakfast is one of the worst I had in hotels. There is almost nothing to eat if you have a sweet-tooth but even if you don't - there are few edible options though. If you want to iron something there is no ironing desk or special room to do it, you have to improvise in your room. If you coming to the airport with more than 4 people tell it to shuttle bus driver because we didn't and one of us had to wait because there was no space for him in the car (Hotel has 2 shuttle buses, one for 8-9 people and second for 4.)

Room smelled like bad air freshener on arrival and once we opened the bathroom door we knew why - permanent bad smell. No where to hang towels/jackets, and a mattress slipping around atop another mattress, with too-small a sheet and a head board banging the wall was hardly comfortable sleeping either. Breakfast mediocre. Nice size room and free parking about the only positives

5 months ago - no shuttle as ordered and bedsheet had blood stains and there was no staff to change it. I had to wait over 1h to get someone to change the bedsheets. Very slow check in.

The hotel stinks like old fried oil and inside the room you’re stuck with the same smell. When you go out, your clothes stink.
No breakfast - no eggs, beans, vegetables at 8:30. Only some low quality sausages nobody wanted. Breakfast runs till 10… I informed that there is no food left, nobody cared. I had coffee and left.
Avoid, use Best Western or Novotel, these are amazing in Sofia and often at very similar prices.

Great option to stay a night after or before the flight, I've done it multiple times.
Free shuttle to the hotel (and from it), you just call the driver (English speaking) and he's there for you in 3 min. Good restaurant! If you leave early morning before the breakfast starts they prepare a takeaway breakfast, I think its really cute and thoughtful. Rooms are clean and beds are comfortable, decent shampoo in the shower:)

Basic in every sense of the word! Tiny rooms, average service and how dare you market it as an airport hotel when one needs a taxi to get to the airport?🤔🤷♂️🤦♂️ #whatajoke
One of the positives is a front desk employee by the name of Bobby. He's extremely friendly, incredibly professional and an all-round super guy! Ibis Sofia Airport Hotel is very lucky to have him working for them.
The other positive is the breakfast. I've read past reviews of how the breakfast lacked variety and didn't taste good. I completely disagree! It's such great value and I highly recommend it.

I stayed at this hotel recently and while the location is great close to the airport with a convenient shuttle - there were several letdowns. The rooms were not completely clean, with noticeable dust and unkempt areas. The service also wasn’t up to par; staff didn’t seem particularly helpful or attentive. On the positive side, the food was good, but it was pricey for what you got. Overall, while the location is a plus, the cleanliness and service could definitely use improvement for the price.

Convenient for an early flight. This is a standard ibis with clean, functional rooms and straightforward service. Nothing remarkable, but the location—just 10 minutes on foot from Terminal 1—makes it a practical choice if you have a morning flight.

Great experience from the moment I booked the room from the hotel's website. Staff was polite, the room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The free airport shuttle was very convenient and got me to the airport on time for a very early flight. Breakfast to go was an apple and a ham and cheese sandwich, delicious and fresh. Would definitely recommend!
