You can see Donghuamen right from the hotel entrance, and it couldn't be more convenient for visiting the Forbidden City. It's just across the street from Wangfujing Century, which is a hub for Beijing's historical costume makeup and photo shoots. Most online booked travel photoshoots start with makeup here, haha. I walked to the National Museum and the Forbidden City, and diagonally opposite there's a Siji Minfu, which is worth checking out for food. Overall, the location is absolutely fantastic. As for the decor and facilities, I don't think they're as bad as some reviews make them out to be; for an old building, they're perfectly acceptable. I'll bring my mom back to Beijing in the autumn of 2026 and stay here again! Just be aware that there's no central heating/warm air conditioning, so if that's a big concern for you, keep an eye on Beijing's heating schedule. I stayed from November 1st to 6th, and the staff provided a space heater, so I wasn't cold at all. There were plenty of shared bikes parked outside the hotel, which was super convenient. The streets to the left and right were lined with yellow leaves, and cycling around in the crisp autumn air was so comfortable. I probably got 20 years' worth of cycling done in those six days, hahahaha! Cycling in Beijing is really enjoyable, I love it, and I'll definitely come back to cycle again!

I rarely leave reviews, but I've never stayed in such a terrible hotel. When I checked in, they didn't give me the room I booked, claiming they upgraded me. In reality, it was the worst room in the hotel, right next to a noisy fan outside the window. On top of that, the electricity was unstable; the circuit breaker tripped seven or eight times in two hours, causing sudden power outages. In the middle of the night, even after turning off the light switch, the light would come back on by itself. Turning it off again would just make it come back on again, so I had to pull out the key card. It was 14°C in the room, and we couldn't even use the air conditioning. Both my room and my parents' room had the same issues. This was the biggest mistake of our trip; I've never experienced a hotel like this. When I contacted the front desk, they were dismissive, and at 3 AM, they told me to just switch rooms. With elderly parents in their seventies and a ten-year-old child, is this really how you provide service?!

If you're planning to visit the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square, I highly recommend this hotel. The location is absolutely fantastic; it's just a few hundred meters walk to the Forbidden City and a little over a kilometer to the Square. The rooms are well-maintained and don't feel old or dated. Highly recommended!

Arrived at the hotel around 7 AM, and they still managed to get a room ready for me quickly. This time, I even got upgraded to the heritage building, which is always a pleasant surprise! Even though I only caught a glimpse of the 'Century Morning Glow' in Beijing 2026, it still made me feel very happy. And although the breakfast price has gone up, they still offer all my favorite items.

The Cuimingzhuang Hotel is the closest three-star hotel to the Forbidden City. It enjoys a prime location on the west side of the Huangchenggen Ruins Park in the Wangfujing business district, within walking distance of Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, Wangfujing, and the National Art Museum of China. Cuimingzhuang was built in the 1930s. During the 1949 negotiations between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, it was once the residence of the CPC delegation of the Military Mediation Executive Department. Older revolutionaries such as Ye Jianying, Deng Yingchao, Wang Zhen, and Luo Ruiqing successively worked and lived in Cuimingzhuang. The Cuimingzhuang Hotel is located on No. 1 Nanheyan Street in Beijing's Dongcheng District, a prime location for sightseeing and shopping. Standing at the hotel's north gate, overlooking the Forbidden City's Donghua Gate to the west and Wangfujing Commercial Street to the east, it is only a five-minute walk away. After the founding of New China, Cuimingzhuang hosted countless central, provincial, district, and municipal leaders and administrators at all levels of the organizational system and was known as the "home of party members and cadres." Premier Zhou Enlai once hosted foreign friends here. In 1995, the Beijing Municipal People's Government designated Cuimingzhuang as a city-wide cultural relic protection center. In 1996, Cuimingzhuang Village was restored to its original location. On December 31, 1998, the newly renovated Cuimingzhuang Hotel opened. On September 18, 2000, the Cuimingzhuang Hotel was recognized as a three-star hotel by the Beijing Municipal Tourism Administration. He is currently a member of the China Tourism Hotel Association and the Beijing Tourism Industry Association.

This hotel is steeped in history. The building itself is like a small exhibition hall, showcasing its past stories. The location is absolutely unbeatable; you step out and see the East Flowery Gate of the Forbidden City. For anyone wanting to visit the Forbidden City early, this is probably the most convenient place to stay. The staff service was also excellent, they even upgraded our room for free. The only downside is that the facilities are a bit dated, so if you're looking for smart home features, this might not be the best fit.

A perfect hotel, I arrived tired from my trip and all I wanted was a comfortable hotel, this one was very comfortable and very good.
It was very cold outside but the hotel had a good heating and very close to a hot pot restaurant and a street with good warm food.

The location is excellent, just a 15-minute walk to the Meridian Gate of the Forbidden City. There are many famous restaurants nearby, including Siji Minfu, Fangzhuanchang, and Donglaishun. I love staying in historic buildings like this, even if the guesthouse's decor is a bit outdated. I might choose this place again when I bring my parents to Beijing in the future!

The service was excellent. I originally booked a room without a rain shower, but the front desk staff kindly upgraded me to a room with one, which I really appreciate! 🙏
The room was clean and satisfactory. 👍
Felt very secure! I'll definitely come back.
