Hi Inn Shanghai Zhongshan Park Branch in Shanghai

Overall, we had a good stay. The location is excellent, directly above Zhongshan Park Metro Station and connected to a shopping mall with plenty of affordable dining options and a supermarket.

Our family room was spacious and comfortable, with a large bathroom and great amenities. The reception staff spoke English, were very helpful, and kindly stored our luggage before check-in.

The main downside was the persistent cigarette smell in our room and occasionally in the hallways. Although the hotel was fully booked and couldn't move us, staff did their best to help by arranging an extra clean. We also found it frustrating that our "Do Not Disturb" sign wasn't always respected by housekeeping.

The pool and gym were good, but families should note that access to the pool is through the changing rooms.

Overall, the great location, spacious rooms, and friendly staff outweighed the negatives. If the cigarette smell was addressed, I would happily stay here again.

The service and the location was excellent. Good choice for breakfast & love that it was connected to a shopping mall. Unfortunately, the let down for us (family of 4, two adults and two teen boys) was having to wait close to 3 hours for our room. We booked a duplex two bedrooms suite with club lounge access. We arrived at 3:30pm and didn’t get our room until after dinner!! Naturally we were exhausted from our travels and just wanted our room to rest, shower & get ready for dinner & go to Shanghai Tower which we had pre-booked tickets for - lucky we made ut in time!! When we finally got our room, it was set up incorrectly with the second bedroom for my boys set up with one single bed! They then offered a pull out bed! My boys are big boys and a pull out is not acceptable for the price we paid - pull out bed restricts space & is uncomfortable! So they offered another room - set out correctly with twin beds for my boys but the smell was putrid! Sewer-like and having walked in after dinner I wanted to throw up! If you get room 5827 run fast! They offered to spray the room and provided an air purifier which we thought would help but it didn’t! They opened all the windows to let in fresh air but this didn’t help. The freezing weather in the middle of January in Shanghai with all windows open was not ideal.
We could not use the bottom floor of the apartment as the smell was unbearable. The upstairs was a little better but the hallway smelled bad. Very disappointing that we had to be confined to our bedrooms upstairs. If it wasn’t for the bed smell it would have been a great experience at this hotel. It must be an inherent sewer problem as we could smell it in the hotel lifts and hallways also. Some days worse than others. For a 5 star, I’d expect the toilet seat to fit properly and towel rails to be properly fixed also.
