Heritage hotel Bastion in Zadar

My two children, husband and I stayed here and had an absolutely wonderful stay. The service was exceptional, the ambience was lovely, the rooms were clean and luxurious, and the location was perfect- very close to all the major sites. My daughter loved that we were staying in a fortress! Every single person at the hotel went above and beyond to make our stay amazing. This is our favorite hotel of our two week trip in 3 countries, and it was even more pleasant than some five star hotels. Also, the restaurants have excellent food. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

From the moment we arrived at Hotel Bastion in the heart of Zadar’s old town, we knew this stay would be special. The location inside the historic city walls is unbeatable — everything is within easy walking distance, yet the hotel itself feels calm, elegant, and exclusive.

The room was beautifully designed, immaculately clean, and very comfortable, combining modern amenities with a refined, classic atmosphere. After a full day of exploring, it was the perfect place to relax.

What truly sets this hotel apart is the service — especially the front-of-house reception. The gentleman at reception was exceptional: genuinely welcoming, highly professional, attentive, and truly one of a kind. His warmth, efficiency, and attention to detail made us feel personally cared for from the very first moment. This level of hospitality is rare and unforgettable.

Breakfast was outstanding and deserves special mention. While there is a generous buffet with high-quality options, what makes it exceptional is that it also includes à la carte dishes prepared fresh to order, all included. Everything was made on request, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. Freshly squeezed juices, excellent coffee, and truly amazing bread completed the experience — one of the best hotel breakfasts we have had.

Overall, Hotel Bastion exceeded expectations in every way. An outstanding location, elegant comfort, exceptional service, and a breakfast experience that truly stands out. A genuine five-star stay — we will absolutely return.

My wife and I had the most amazing experience at the Hotel Bastion. From the moment we checked in everyone went above and beyond to ensure an unforgettable experience. The woman in charge of the breakfast went above and beyond in assisting us and every morning inquired as to how we slept the neighbors before.
The hotel is located inside the city walls close to the action but secluded enough for the privacy one needs while on holiday. I would enthusiastically recommend this hotel for anyone looking to visit Zadar!

Wonderful boutique hotel in a prime location. The staff were absolutely great, especially the front of house team. They were happy to valet our car, making parking a breeze. Getting in and out of the center of the city was surprisingly easy.

Breakfast is both a buffet and a la carte. The room (we had the 002 suite) was cute and clean.

I would happily stay here again. There’s a few waterfront bars nearby but despite this it was still quiet and dark in the room.

Really great four star hotel.

This is a great hotel for visiting Zadar. The team, especially Ivan at the front desk, Helena the masseuse, and the lovely dining staff, were top notch outstanding. The food was very, very good, albeit pretty pricey. Our room was lovely and the bed was very comfortable. The view was very nice.

The location is perfect. Walking distance to everything in Old Town. The only downside is that it’s a little hard to find if you’re driving and have to park. I can’t recommend highly enough. Excellent Hotel.

My Husband and I stayed here for two nights on our honeymoon. We were so impressed during our stay. Our suite was spacious and clean. The staff was extremely friendly and went above and beyond to accommodate us. We used the spa facilities, which we sincerely enjoyed. The breakfast was wonderful. Seriously, we can’t recommend this hotel enough. Very happy with our stay! Will come back if we are in Zadar again!

Stayed for a night, very friendly and accommodating staff! Breakfast spread was huge and everything was fresh. Room is small but nice upscale design.

Very pleasant stay (5 nights) , tastefully decorated but room was a little small. Good breakfast, just ask the staff for hot food and they make it (much better than a hot buffet). Great location with most things in walking distance. Staff always courteous and friendly. I would definitely return.

We were upgraded to this hotel when our original choice had to be closed due to low booking. Lovely staff made us feel very welcome. Lovely room with excellent view over the Harbour. Room had very efficient air conditioning. Very nice breakfast buffet. Definitely best place in town.
