It has been some time since I last stayed in Platzl hotel. No changes to the superb rooms, breakfast and service. This is my first choice hotel for Munich.

I spent five nights here and absolutely loved it. I had a single room on the fourth floor overlooking the Hofbrau house. While it got a little noisy on the street at night it generally quieted down after 9 PM. The room was laid out very nicely and the bathroom was large and well lit. There was a small mini bar and an in room safe, desk, chair, adjustable heating in the room and the bathroom as well as the window opens for fresh air. There are blackout curtains as well. I also appreciated the in room coffee and tea. The room was cleaned daily and was absolutely spotless, plenty of plush towels and nice amenities. The bed was comfortably firm, and I slept very well. The staff is exceedingly welcoming and helpful. The fifth floor spa/sauna is very nice. The lobby is a cozy place to sit in the evenings and have a drink. The adjoining bar area offers light snacks, cakes, and Panini sandwiches, and the bartender, Oscar, was great with recommendations. They also have a fine dining restaurant and offer a buffet breakfast, but I did not partake in either of those. Room service is available too.
The location is a four minute walk from the S Bahn stop at Marienplatz, which takes you directly to the airport, as well as connects you to other parts of the city. I found the area to be quite walkable to enjoy the historic sites, as well as the Christmas markets.

The hotel is in an excellent location. Many tourist attractions are within walking distance. The lobby is beautiful and we enjoyed drinks at the hotel’s bar. The staff members were friendly and helpful. As far the room, they accidentally gave us someone else’s room at first, which was one of the suites. That room was gorgeous. When we got to our room (a classic double room), we were naturally a bit disappointed. The room was clean overall (aside from sticky residue on one of the night stands). The bathroom was also spacious. The design of the room was off though. The TV was far too big for where it was placed in the room, was very crooked because it didn’t fit, and there were many scuff marks on the walls. The heat was not the greatest either. I’d recommend the hotel mainly because of its location. If you’re in a suite, you will definitely enjoy the hotel. But if you’re in a normal room, you won’t be all that impressed.

Hotel is very central in Munich and the reason I chose it. I'd recommend it to others and stay again. Enjoyable to sit in the lobby after a long day sightseeing. On a Friday night they had a live DJ which was pretty cool.

A very welcoming hotel with excellent service. We were given a small but very cozy room. It had slippers, bathrobes, a hairdryer, and other standard amenities. You can request an orthopedic pillow, which we did.

The room was a bit chilly for this time of year, and we couldn’t figure out how the heating system worked. Bottled water was provided in the room daily. We stayed on the second floor, and I should mention that the windows and walls are quite thin, so the sound insulation is not very good – you can hear a lot.

Breakfast can be purchased separately. We only tried it once, as the selection was not very large and we missed having more vegetables. Still, everything you would normally expect from a standard hotel breakfast was available.

Overall, I can recommend this hotel — we had a pleasant stay.

What a remarkable stay. Staff was very helpful and extremely friendly. The room was an excellent size, well laid out and very comfortable. The bed was a little hard for my liking but otherwise a fantastic room. The location was great, right on the plaza. Easy access to the subway, taxis and bus stop.

Very nice hotel in an amazing location. Staff and service was outstanding and I will be forever grateful for being allowed to get the room at 8 am after a 36 hour journey from Australia with a baby. That's a level of flexibility with guest experience in mind I have not seen often.
