Hotel Uhl in Rothenburg ob der Tauber

Property overall was a good experience. Upon arriving at the old town, choosing where to park to access the cafe and get checked in was a little confusing. This was only due to the way the town is laid out and no clearly marked parking signs etc.
Once we checked in, we moved our car from a side street and were directed to park in a 3 car garage just off the Main Street. The car garage was secured with a garage door at night.
We were assigned an ‘apartment’ room instead of the typical room on ******* which I booked. It was about 200m up away from the actual cafe and rest of the hotel. The 200m uphill walk was ok for us (in our 40’s) with all our luggage, but may be a bit of an issue for someone with special health requirements or the elderly.
The apartment itself was well equipped with a small kitchenette. It included a small fridge, sink, and 2 burner smooth cooktop.
I think this suite is attached to a local multiplex. Walls seemed a little thin as we heard the neighbor heavily coughing in the early hours of the morning.
Apartment was nice, just not expected to be detached from the main hotel and cafe. I felt like a local living with neighbors, is all.
Breakfast was good. It was comprised of several buns, sliced meats and cheeses, spreads, yogurt, orange juice, and a choice of hot beverage.
Staff were friendly when we saw them to check in, go for breakfast and checkout.
Location of the cafe is good and it’s near the beginning of the main road.

This hotel is located above bakery, and the breakfast provided comes straight off the bakery display. It's AMAZING! The food, the location, the hospitality of the hosts, all fantastic. We can't say enough good things about this hotel. The only downfall is the street noise, but when you're located on the main area of the town, you have to expect that a bit. We would stay here again without hesitation!

There are so many things we loved about this hotel. First, the building and location: a 200-years old castle at the edge of the city. The views are amazing, and the possibility of having breakfast or a walk along the city's wall is unique. It's only three blocks away from the town square and the main restaurants. Walking back to the hotel at night was one of high moments.
Although the building is old, it's in perfect conditions. The fact that there's no elevator could sound like a problem but it's part of the experience (and it's just 3 floors!). The rooms are big and everything worked perfectly. Otto, the concierge, was super nice and spoke perfect english and was able to tell us a lot about the story of the building (don't forget to ask him!). The garage is only a few meters away.
Negative:
Breakfast could have some sausages... Sounds a small thing but she you are a tourist from bad-cooking America, you are eager to try some regional stuff.
Minor detail: the rooms should have some kind of mosquito repellent; there were a bunch of them in the room due to the weather.

My husband and I loved our long weekend at the Burghotel! Otto and his family are delightful and all the staff are friendly and helpful. Our room was beautiful with a pleasant view and we enjoyed having a sitting area. Fantastic location, quiet, comfortable bed. We will stay again at the Burghotel!!

By booking in this hotel is like booking a stay in the history of Rothenburg! Beautifully preserved listed building within the old city! The rooms are comfy and have all the amenities that you will need. Just an advice, their is no lift so if you want to avoid stairs try to book a room in the ground floor. Also, you can can access the parking only up to 22:00. Anyway the city is asleep after that.
