City Hotel Berlin East in Berlin
✅ Rooms are very spacious, larger than expected, with comfortable beds and good air conditioning working well in hot weather. ✅ Staff members receive mixed reviews but some are described as professional, polite, and helpful, particularly one receptionist praised for resolving check-in issues. ✅ The hotel offers free bike rentals, free parking, WiFi, and a fitness centre, adding value for price-conscious travelers. ✅ Breakfast is generally considered good with a variety of options, though some find it overpriced and better alternatives nearby. ✅ The large complex is quiet and rooms are soundproofed, providing a peaceful stay away from city noise. ❌ Several guests report poor customer service with rude or unhelpful staff, especially during check-in and when requesting extra beds. ❌ Air conditioning in some rooms reportedly does not cool effectively, leading to uncomfortable temperatures. ❌ The restaurant and bar facilities are often closed or limited, with food services paused during renovations, disappointing some guests expecting full amenities. ❌ Room cleanliness is inconsistent; some guests encountered unclean rooms, dusty furniture, and bathroom issues like rust and malfunctioning fittings. ❌ The hotel’s large size and unusual entrance location can cause confusion, and the area is farther from central Berlin than some expect.

Description
City Hotel Berlin East is a 4-star hotel built in 2008 and renovated in 2011, offering a wide variety of room types from Economy Single rooms to expansive Executive Quadruple Suites and Villas. The rooms are notably spacious, often described as larger than expected, with comfortable beds and modern TVs, although some guests note the absence of typical in-room amenities like kettles and coffee makers. The hotel features services such as free bike rentals, free parking, WiFi, a fitness centre, and a restaurant, though some reviews mention that the restaurant and bar facilities are occasionally closed or limited. Its large complex design can make navigation to reception challenging, especially since the main entrance is on the side opposite the tram stop. The hotel scores highly for price and location, rated 10/10 by guests, making it a budget-friendly option with solid facilities if you can manage a few quirks.
Location
Located at Landsberger Allee 203 in Berlin, City Hotel Berlin East sits about 13 km from Berlin Tegel Airport (TXL) and approximately 2.4 km from the nearest beach, Strandbad am Weißen See. The hotel is positioned near a local tram stop, providing accessible public transport links. Nearby dining options include the Restaurant «Anh. Lê Trung Khoa» just 247 meters away. While the hotel is outside the city center, guests find it quiet and appreciate the tram access to central Berlin, though the hotel entrance is on the opposite side of the building from the tram stop, which can be confusing at first.
Tips
- When arriving, allow extra time to locate the main entrance as it is not on the side facing the tram stop.

Reviews
However, I’m unsure if we’ve arrived in an ‘offseason’ but everywhere is unnervingly quiet. There are certainly guests, and certainly staff - but we’ve seen next to zero. There is evidence of a much larger renovation taking place - non of the restaurants are open, food services are on pause, etc etc.
Rooms are incredibly spacious and larger than expected, just misses the typical amenities like tea/coffee/fridge/kettle. There is however, a self serve bar available in reception that utilises self check out machines! Super handy
Also, I don’t recommend taking a breakfast at hotel, it doesn’t worth its money. Instead, take an 8 min morning walk to Plötners cafe, it is twice as cheap and way more tasty.
