Elounda Orama in Elounda

This is my second visit to this hotel with my first being in June 24. The first time we had a very warm welcome and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This time it was a different experience. We decided to make use of a hire car from the airport to use during our stay in Crete as we knew the hotel had a secure car park. Upon arriving at the hotel my husband dropped me off to get directions to the car park but the lady on reception wouldn’t tell me where it was until we had checked in and been shown around the hotel. I explained we had stayed before so knew our way around but she still refused to give us directions to the car park. We had been travelling for a long time and just wanted to park the car, get into our room to relax. It took a very uncomfortable conversation to obtain the directions to the car park. Our room its self was ok. We had a few issues. Firstly on numerous occasions there was no hot water whatsoever for showers. We were told it’s because we’re not using the AC. It’s not warm enough for the AC. So complete nonsense. Secondly there was a constant leak from our toilet all over the bath room floor. I had to clean this 2/3 times a day. Also one day when we did have the AC on, there was a very strong smell or urine and drains coming from it. Not ideal. Lastly there was no milk or whitener supplied for tea and coffees. Quick few notes on breakfast. Quality last year was so much better. No scrambled eggs just powdered egg omlette, fried eggs like bullets swimming in oil and the coffee is awful. We only had breakfast in the hotel twice in a full week. It’s such a shame and I feel sad to write this. As a professional within the travel industry I speak to many customers and recommend the Orama however after this recent experience I now won’t. Elounda is stunning and we will come back but will choose to stay elsewhere In Future. Please think about a warmer welcome to guests as this will set the tone for their experience. Our welcome was rude and unhelpful

Just home from a 2 weeks stay here. It is the 3rd time we have stayed here but will definitely be our last. The whole hotel is in dire need of renovation. The rooms are grubby as are the towels and We had 5 days with no hot water despite reporting this on numerous occasions to reception The steps to the toilets at the pool are a hazard there is no hand rail on either side The sun beds are grubby and stained . The upper pool area in run down with broken sun beds tables and parasols thrown in a pile. Avoid this hotel at all costs .

Very poor sea view room (literally a view of the staff smoking). A few maintenance issues that were not resolved around leaks despite asking multiple times. There were little flies in the room that seemed related to the leaks / mould around. I cannot foresee this hotel remaining a 4 star. They can’t seem to maintain the place to the right standard unfortunately.

Compared with other all-in hotels I've been to so far, this hotel doesn't have basic facilities. The pool area is too small to fit all guests and there aren't enough sunbeds. The sunbeds by the way were very dirty. The pool bar was the only place serving drinks even after the dinner. The barmans were always missing some key ingedients. There's a nice place to sit in the evening at the very top of the hotel but it was mostly closed due to wind. When it was open the place was empty, because they don't serve all-in drinks there. We were not going to pay extra for the cocktails. At the pool bar there's no place to sit except one coach that was occupied, so we were going out every evening. The food was at best avarege and the choice was very limited. There were days we had to eat out. Fortunately, Elounda has many restaurants and bars with great food and drinks, but we had to spend few hundreds EUR extra to have a nice time. The cherry on the top was that they removed our all-in bracelets at check-out even though our flight was very late. At first sight, this hotel looks very nice, the staff is kind and helpful, but underhood it must be managed by very bad and greedy people.

looked completely different than in the pictures, hotel also had a loooot of stairs and the elevator doesn't go to where the swimming pool is. The outdoor gym is no longer in use, nothing was mentioned about it. Our bedroom was directly in front of you when you entered through the front door which was a bit strange and when someone smoked outside, the smell came inside. The cleaners changed the sheets and towels only every three days and if you want it done more often it costs 7€🤔 this is not worth four stars, go somewhere else!
