Description

Odinn Reykjavik Skolavordustigur Apartments is a 3-star accommodation located in the heart of Reykjavik, offering a wide range of room types from studios to penthouse apartments with city views or balconies. The property rates well on cleanliness, amenities, location, and service, each scoring 8 out of 10. It features non-smoking rooms, a terrace, a restaurant on site, meeting facilities, and allows pets according to services, though the policy states pets are not allowed. Guests appreciate the spaciousness of the apartments and the fully equipped kitchens with microwaves, toasters, and hobs, though ovens are not included. Communication with staff is generally responsive, but some guests report issues with check-in instructions and maintenance problems in certain units. Heating control may be limited, but most find the rooms warm and comfortable. The apartments vary in size, catering to families and groups, with some units featuring up to six bedrooms and city views. Expect a mix of modern and somewhat dated interiors depending on the unit.

Location

The apartments sit on Skolavordustigur 2 in Reykjavik’s Midborg district, very central and close to main attractions. It is just 2 km from Reykjavik Domestic Airport (RKV), making transfers convenient. The Icelandic Phallological Museum is only 279 meters away, and the National Gallery of Iceland is 387 meters from the property. For beach lovers, Nautholsvik Geothermal Beach is 2.77 km away. Nearby dining options include Restaurant B5, 97 meters away, and the Te & Kaffi café just 275 meters from the apartments. The location places you right at the bottom of Rainbow Street, known for nightlife and restaurants, though street noise can be noticeable at night.

Tips

  • Arrive prepared for a potentially confusing self-check-in process by carefully reviewing the key box and front door codes.
  • If you have a long stay, consider requesting a room away from Rainbow Street to reduce noise disturbances.
  • Bring your own oven mitts as the kitchens lack some accessories.
  • For parking, plan ahead since on-site options are limited but a garage is nearby.

The location of this accommodation was fantastic - so central and close to everywhere, right at the heart of Reykjavík, close to the old harbour and many shops including supermarkets close by. Getting in to the apartment was a little unclear. We were sent the codes in advance but the code for the key box was very small and instead the code for the front door was the one we were trying - the code for the key safe and the code for the front door are different. The key safe code is very small on the check in information. The apartment itself was ok but didn’t look anything like the pictures, it could definitely do with an upgrade as it did look a little run down. It was also boiling inside the apartment as we weren’t able to control the heating ourselves but we just opened the windows when we were in. The kitchen was handy with a microwave, toaster, hob and other accessories to cook a meal but no oven. The amenities it mentions included some cleaning items in the bathroom and a bottle of body wash. The bed and pillows were comfy and we slept okay and didn’t find the noise outside too bad considering it was right in the centre, though our apartment was at the back. The sofa bed was big though we never needed it as a bed and there’s a tv in the living room it needed. Check out was easy enough, we were asked to strip the bedding, put the dishwasher on (though there wasn’t a dishwasher but we’d already washed everything and put it away) and put the key back in the key safe.

I stayed at the Luxurious Studio Apartment at the end of October 2025 with my two sons. While there were some positive aspects, I believe there’s a lot of room for improvement. Things to improve: 1. Check-in process: The instructions were unclear for first-time visitors. I had to ask several times to confirm details, likely because different staff members were responding to my emails. 2. First impression: When I opened the front door, there was a strong, unpleasant smell—possibly from cleaning products. The stairs also looked much more worn out than what was shown in the apartment photos, so be aware of that difference. 3. Maintenance issues: Although the apartment looked luxurious at first glance, several things were broken. The kitchen tap was loose, and both a socket and the kitchen lights didn’t work. When I asked if they could be fixed, the reply was simply that they were broken and not to use them—which was quite disappointing. 4. Flooring: The wooden floor was damaged in places. 5. Bathroom: The bathroom had a strong, unpleasant smell, again likely from harsh cleaning chemicals. The shower drain was blocked, so I could only take a three-minute shower before the water started overflowing from the cubicle. 6. Bedroom space: There was no space in the bedroom to comfortably open a suitcase. Based on these points, I don’t think this apartment truly qualifies as “luxurious.” A shiny kitchen alone doesn’t make a place luxurious—attention to detail and proper maintenance do. The good points: 1. Great location 2. Nice kitchen (aside from the broken parts) 3. Quick and responsive communication from one of the staff members Finally, I would like to sincerely thank the management for kindly rescheduling my stay due to my mother’s heart operation. I truly appreciated their understanding and flexibility.

We were nine women traveling together, and the apartment was spacious with four bedrooms and two bathrooms. There was plenty of space and all necessary kitchen equipment was available. It’s located right in the city center, within walking distance to most places. Unfortunately, there was some dampness in the rooms. The staircase up to the apartment had a strong, unpleasant smell, so we had to hurry through it. No elevator. Great place to stay for a few days, but perhaps not ideal for a longer stay. Overall a nice apartment :)

This is a great location! Parking is tricky, but there is a garage very close! Loved my stay!

Nice clean and modern apartment with kitchen and two bedrooms. Location is ideal if you want to be near the action and at the foot of Rainbow Street. It took us a few minutes to locate the entrance but it was right off the Main Street. The water smells of sulfur but that is just a bi-product of the geothermal heating used in Reykjavik and nothing to do with the property. Would recommend staying here, it was a good value and not too far of a walk from the bus station and rental car place. Easy to walk with bags (as long as weather is fine).

Apartment was much larger than we thought and the bed and sheets were very comfortable! The view of the rainbow road was fantastic. Would definitely stay again.

My friends and I touring Iceland came here on a Sat night around 9pm. It was still early enough where they had an acoustic guitarist singing cover songs. It wasn't that busy and had available seating at the time. It was nice and chill and we got to sing along too! However sometime later they started taking away the tables and chairs and more and more and MORE people started pouring in! Young crowd too. We got super lucky bc a group of people left their booth table which ended up being right by the DJ. At this point the it was a packed club (which I didn't expect at all lol). As with any packed club, it was very hard to get drinks and to move anywhere in the bar, and there was a long line for the bathroom to which my friends also added that 2 chicks got in a fight (sounds kinda interesting actually). They played American Music the rest of the night and even with the negative aspects of busy clubs, I still had a grand time, but of course alcohol helps lol.

Top quality sound system, my wife and I heard the music (and revellers) extremely clearly in my hotel over 50 metres away and all night long to boot! The set was top notch with good flow and a good selection of various upbeat music, the sound system made it so clear I could "shazam" over 80% of the DJ's set!
What an experience!
11/10 would definitely not sleep again!

Don't even think of going there. The worst club I have ever been to. 200 people cramped in a place where it can hold maximum 50 People spilling beer all over the place, drunk fightings, I can go on and on.

Staff were bullies and assholes!
Bought drinks in the sports bar which was quite still at the time, and then got threatened with a beating by the bouncers if I didn't move over to the much louder club next door. That wasn't the place or atmosphere I signed up for. Stay clear!
31.12.2017 Chelsea
Went there during a non rush period (around 1430) and left after 30 minutes...our drink order hadn’t even been taken. My mom went up to the bar to try to place an order there and she said she’d send someone right over. We waited about 10 more minutes, during which the server blatantly ignored us, before we left. We got our fish and chips down the street at Drunken Rabbit— much better experience!
23.11.2017 Chris
Visited during dinner hours thirsty and hungry. Very disappointed with lacklustre service and staff that didn't seem terribly interested in being there. Food was disappointing. Only saving grace was that beer was cold. Would not recommend.
23.10.2017 Garry
Good. Enjoyed food with decent portions. Costs more than you would expect but this is iceland so not bad for here.
07.08.2017 Dennis
I thought the good was just OK. Fish and Chips is probably the best.
Service is slow and not very attentive. Not very aware of customer's needs, and sometimes feel like being ignored.
Feels pricy for the food served.

Maybe because this is a PUB, not a restaurant.

Overall, its still not a bad place to come to. But there are other places in the area that you can pay a little more to get much better food.
