Hotel Grotticelle in Capo Vaticano

The area is really nice, the beach is in the walking distance. The hotel has its own beach, use that rather than the public one. The beach towel from the hotel is 5€. That's all I can say about positive things. The room has a conditioner for 5€/day but at least in our room it was directed straight to the bed thus we couldn't keep it on during nights. However, although the conditioner was on all day in the room, as soon as we switched it off for night, the room became a hotspot and to get at least some sleep, we had to switch it back for 15 minutes during the night. I got terribly sweaty and swollen by mornings. In addition, we were eaten by mosquitos during nights. The beds are hard and pillows thin. There is no isolation between the walls, you hear your neighbours talking. The breafast is minimum, same stuff every morning. You have to ask the staff for each cup of coffee separately. The bread is not freshly baked but taken from packages. Choose this area for your vacation but not this hotel!

The problems started as soon as we arrived. my boyfriend was still in the middle of the courtyard with the car and I went down to ask for parking information at the reception, but at the reception they had already made me pay the bill for the stay, with the car not yet parked and the luggage not yet unloaded . Then finally they showed us where to park and we went to our room. I would say the room was too small for two people. Balcony without mosquito net, overlooking the swimming pool (with little privacy) therefore a million mosquitoes. So in the evening we were forced to close everything and sleep with an air conditioner on but unfortunately it was old and noisy. The bathroom was not adequate, the shower had no door/curtain/any form of closure so taking a shower meant enlarging half the bathroom. Restaurant with insufficient room service, unprofessional staff and little choice on the menu. For breakfast they made us sit on tables with stain covers still dirty from the previous evening. And also little choice in the breakfast buffet. Finally, the beach bar was not adequate for the number of umbrellas present. In general, all types of service are insufficient.

Hi everyone, I stayed in this hotel in August for two days. I feel like saying that so far it is the worst of all the ones I've been to! Let's start with the room: I had a triple room and for three people the room was small, the spaces were so small that you couldn't even move, as soon as I entered I noticed that handkerchief in the air conditioner, never removed these days even if asked, as you can see from the photo it is Disgusting; the front door was old, it opened with a faulty key; the tablecloths were immediately found dirty, they had stains of blood and other undefined substances, after I complained they changed them, the least they could do. In the bathroom the spaces were worse than those in the room: the shower cubicle closed by a simple curtain, not very hygienic given that all the water came out from underneath! Throughout our stay we had a strong sewage smell in the room which persisted throughout the night. The privacy on the balcony was non-existent, you could see everything, even the people in the rooms next door! I took advantage of the half board and therefore in addition to breakfast I had a meal included. The service in the room was too fast, not even enough time to finish the appetizer and they immediately brought the first course and so on with the following courses. The buffet of starters and side dishes was always very limited and sometimes when something ran out it wasn't replaced. The food was not of good quality, it looked like leftovers from the day before, almost everything was bad, I preferred to eat out. Among other things, the tablecloth has never been changed since I arrived! The same goes for breakfast: the buffet wasn't rich and the drinks from the vending machines were really bad! To drink a good coffee you had to go to the bar and you had to pay for it. As well as meal drinks. As regards the hospitality of the check in and the courtesy of the receptionists, I have to say that it wasn't the best! The ladies are a little arrogant, their gestures and behavior seem inappropriate. Compared to my friends, I arrived a day later and they made me pay for the room and half board even though I wasn't there. All this without warning and without internal organization! It's the first time I've stayed in a hotel in Calabria and I chose the worst one. Also expensive. I absolutely don't recommend it!
