The reception staff is lovely, and there are lots of outdoor areas with plenty of seating and nice landscape. The hotel and rooms are very dated and could use a renovation. The room I booked was small, dated, and not very comfortable. The shower is tiny and there was mold on the glass/shower door. I also found the floors in my room to be slippery, even though they were not wet, and I slipped a few times while wearing slippers and sneakers. WiFi was not great and barely worked in the hotel. Be careful of the slippery floors: the hotel staff keeps the common areas clean, and the floors are constantly mopped. On my way to breakfast, the floor outside the breakfast area had been mopped and was very slippery yet there was no caution or warning signs on display. When I stepped on the floor, I slipped and fell so hard that one of the cleaners heard me from downstairs. She came running up to look but instead of coming to help me or to ask if I was okay, she ran back down to retrieve the "Caution: wet floor" sign as there were other people coming down the stairs to breakfast. Staff was indifferent when I reported my fall and the lack of signage. Would not recommend staying here.

This hotel as lovely gardens & views but the food isn't the best the cheapest rooms have problems with windows and doors not fitting well & so ants can get in . If we go again we'd pay more to up grade the room? & eat out . Allso love'd the thermal spa Inside and out pools

We found it hard to agree on a definitive score for this hotel. Our first instinct was 3 stars, as the property is a little dated and some areas could use a refresh. However, there are many positives that made our stay enjoyable. The location is excellent — within easy walking distance of both Ischia Porto and Ischia Ponte. The staff are truly outstanding, particularly in the restaurant, where the service has been exceptional throughout our stay. The food is varied, of good quality, and we appreciated not having to queue at a buffet. Breakfast is fine, if a little carb-heavy, with plenty of cakes. The bread is fantastic and the barista-made coffee is exceptional. It’s worth noting that this hotel isn’t ideal for those with mobility issues, as the lift doesn’t reach the lower floors. In conclusion, we’ve decided to give this hotel 4 stars overall — excellent value for money and made memorable by the wonderful staff

In its bygone days reckon this hotel was one of the best, however resting on one's laurels does not meet current demands and rating of a four star hotel. First impressions good and then it unfolds. Inside and outside requires renovation and modernisation. Our room was light with a small balcony, Bed was comfortable, however only 1 english tv channel available. Expensive mini bar and no facilities for making hot drink. Bathroom was dated with poor lighting and ventilation and low water pressure experienced at certain times. The hotel a 10 minite stroll from main shopping, restaurant area and a little further to the beach. Can only comment on breakfast, and this was pastry heaven, with token hot food which appeared unappetising. The whole morning dining experience lacked imagination and required overall improvement. Great hotel and site with massive potential.

We stayed here at the beginning of September the hotel was very nice, and perfectly situated for going out and exploring the area our room was a bit tired with a broken toilet seat but was cleaned daily.the staff were amazing and could not do enough for you, we didn't get to use the spa as we were out exploring the beautiful island. The pool areas are lovely. Just a little strange request off the hotel is that you have to wear a swimming cap in the pools. ( which are 3 euros each) The food in the evenings was exceptional and the staff were always attentive.

This hotel is a fantastic hotel. The arrival area opens up into the pool area and then towards the front of the hotel. The lobby was cool in the very warm sun and the welcome at the reception was fabulous. Katya was just one of the the nicest people we have met and nothing was a problem or an issue for her. She explained the hotel, gave us all the times for breakfast etc and then explained how to get around the island. Katya was just perfect from start to finish. The room was a joy to stay in. Our view was overlooking the Castle and the beach area. Just beautiful. Great selection at breakfast and we also had a packed breakfast waiting for us as we left early for the ferry on the last day

I spent 8 days at the Hermitage in Ischia on a half-board basis and honestly, it was amazing. The staff were incredibly kind, always helpful and genuinely welcoming — you really feel taken care of from the moment you arrive. Breakfast was rich and varied every morning, with plenty of fresh options. But what really stood out was dinner: it felt more like eating in a high-quality restaurant than a typical hotel meal. Every dish was well-prepared, full of flavor, and beautifully presented — easily the best food I’ve had in a 4-star hotel. The rooms and all areas of the hotel were spotless, including the pools and spa. The spa itself was excellent, and I also had a few massages and treatments that were truly relaxing and professionally done. Another big plus was the convenient shuttle service to the affiliated beach — super easy and stress-free. All in all, everything exceeded my expectations. I’ll definitely be recommending the Hermitage to my family and closest friends — it’s that special.

This really is a great hotel. The grounds are fabulous with lots of seating areas, 2 pools and stunning views of Castello Arogonese . Our rooms were clean, great balconies and seaviews but unlike the rooms above ( we were lower floors) are ready for an upgrade which is why I knocked off a point. Staff were great and there if needed. Room service every day with fresh towels etc. We never struggled to get a bed by the pools too. The walk to Ischia Ponte town was around 5 minutes downhill and little longer back. The Port 15 minutes. One note, if you are infirm on your feet , the grounds are on lots of levels so access could be limiting to some area. All in all a great hotel and value for money.

Not as bad as some reviews might have you believe. Yes, rooms could do with some updating but on the whole they are ok. We stayed in the annexe wing (room 93). Staff were great throughout and provided a great welcome and excellent service at all times. Our stay was on half board basis and all food was excellent with good choices on offer for breakfast and dinner. The hotel is well located being around 10-15 mins walk to the local centre (Ischia Ponte) and 20-30 mins to the larger and busier Ischia Porto both with numerous shops, bars and restaurants. One thing to note is that accessibility could be an issue for older guests or those with disabilities. The guest rooms are located over multiple levels with only the main building served by an elevator, access to the annexe wing is by several internal flights of stairs only. Some areas of the grounds including the lower pool and sun lounge area are also accessible by multiple steps only. On the whole we had a very enjoyable stay and we would visit again.
