We stayed at the MZ Hotel in Rome on Sept 18, 2025. Overnight the portable a/c (which is in every room) overflowed and flooded the floor. Our luggage and everything in it got wet. Upon check out I was told the front desk clerk would speak to the Manager and a refund would be given. That was NOT done. I emailed the hotel directly but got NO response. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL.

We had a very disappointing experience. The service was unfriendly, and the room had a strong sewage odor. The air conditioning was not working, and the portable unit they provided was inadequate. We asked to change rooms due to the unacceptable conditions, but our request was denied. In the end, we had to move to another hotel and still pay for this one. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place.

The hotel is situated in a convenient part of Rome, but once inside the gates, the property feels quite secluded. While the front desk staff was polite, they were unable to provide any useful information about the city. I had booked a superior room, while others in my group reserved standard rooms; however, the accommodations turned out to be virtually identical.

A major concern was the air conditioning unit, which was placed in a large box directly in the room. It produced constant noise and created poor air quality an issue that was particularly problematic for individuals with asthma or other respiratory conditions. This was not disclosed in the hotel’s listing. Additionally, the room had an unpleasant odor, and several fixtures were either broken or poorly maintained.

When we requested a refund due to these health and comfort issues, the process was slow and not treated with urgency, costing us over an hour to resolve. Which I had to contact Expedia where I reserved the rooms from for a refund. (They did not refund for the first night) Ultimately, we had to change hotels.

Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, and I would not recommend this hotel.

On our way to Rome, the hotel reached us by phone 12 hours before arrival. We could not be accommodated "for technical reasons". Bad luck! A short time later, our room reappeared on booking.com.
At three times the price.
We then had to rebook to another hotel at short notice. Inferior location for almost double the price.
