Maison Tritone in Rome

Super expensive for what’s offered. From the reviews here, the price and the property’s website we expected a more luxe stay.

The good - room was huge for Europe, as was the shower, which also had great pressure. The AC worked well and we could adjust to whatever temp we wanted, which a lot of reviews said you couldn’t do.

The bad - not really any amenities. No tissues, conditioner or hand lotion in the room. The pillows made sleeping rough, super thin and cheap feeling. All the rooms on our floor opened directly on to the breakfast room, so forget sleeping in. Breakfast was weird, always out of things. The people in the room next to us even asked if they were going to replenish the food, there were still 2 more hours of service and the poor attendant (who was very nice) looked at them like they were nuts. The website says you can have breakfast brought to your room, but when we asked, everyone said they’d never heard of such a thing, we showed them the website and they said they definitely didn’t do that.

It sounds trivial, but for the price of this room I’ve been able to stay at the Principe di Savoia in Milano and similar hotels that are actually luxury.
