Reception staff were so friendly and helped with any questions that we had. Based on the previous reviews of the rooms being recently renovated, I think we drew the unlucky straw. Parts of the bathroom were very old - sides of the shower crumbling away, patchy paintwork around the room. Toiletries are given daily but are little bars of soap and shampoo sachets, which just lets down the service a little. Even though the rooms are small, the location is fantastic with everything extremely walkable (average 10-15mins) to main sites. This also meant that the surroundings were also very quiet! Overall would recommend as a basic, budget hotel.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was in good condition, comfortable bed and pillows. I am giving it 3 stars because on my second night there, there was a foul/awful smell from the toilet/ bathroom drainage. It was so bad, I couldn’t sleep. I spoke to the receptionist about it and the next day and they said they’d fix it. I didn’t smell it the next night but it wasn’t a pleasant experience and since there was no one at reception, I didn’t call to ask for a room change.

Cramped space, bathroom showers don’t work well.. overall a very sub-mediocre experience at the property.

Staff was okay. Helpful if i needed something. Wouldn’t book again.

If you’re looking for a basic but satisfactory hotel in Rome, Hotel Canova is the place to stay. The room was fairly small and basic, but it was clean and comfortable. The front desk was very helpful in giving restaurant recommendations. I like that no keys are needed for the hotel, and you only have to enter a code to get into the building or your room. On the roof, there is a nice deck with views of the area. The location is walkable to most of the famous spots in Rome and it’s also not too far from the subway. Don’t expect too many extras at this hotel, but it’s a good spot for a nice inexpensive place to stay in Rome.
