This hotel is an absolute gem and truly redefines the 3-star experience in Rome. We were astonished by the exceptional value, especially given our incredibly spacious room. The warm welcome, complete with complimentary snacks and drinks, was a wonderfully personal touch. Paired with an abundance of free in-room amenities, tea & coffee making facility, this stay didn't just meet our expectations; it completely exceeded them. Unquestionably the best in its class!

Just home from a fantastic few days staying at Basilio 55. The hotel is beautiful and in a perfect location, close to all the sights in Rome. Mario was extremely helpful and goes above and beyond to make your stay memorable. As first timers to Rome, this made all the difference. Arranging airport transfers, booking tickets for attractions and even helping us plan the best routes to take. Highly recommend staying at Basilio, we will definitely be back. Attention - Scam Hotel
Due to a late flight, we arrived after midnight. We had notified the owner through *******, but when we got to the hotel, no one was there. We ended up standing on the street after midnight with no room, arguing with the owner on the phone.
The next morning, we spoke to the owner in person, and he insisted this was a no-show because he claimed he had not approved the late check-in via *******. He refused to give us a room for the remaining nights or to refund our money - hence, no room, no money refund.
In the end, the owner was rude and raised his voice. Not sure this is a real hotel at all; we didn’t see any other guests.

We booked here because of the great reviews of the location, hotel and staff. This couldn't be farther from the truth. Mario is a sneaky, dishonest person who talks a lot to get you distracted. Don't be fooled by his friendly appearance and tone. Always looking to make a buck at your expense.
1. Gave us a small studio for 4 people when we paid for a 1 bedroom. He set up cots under the desk to make it work. Then he said we needed to pay an extra 100 euros a night for a bigger room;
2. Tries to sell you on tours at a "great" price only to find it's cheaper once you leave the hotel;
3. Charged every guest a service fee when it should have only been guests over 18 years old.
4. Even on the cab ride to the train station he was trying to scam. His friend had a cab that would charge 20 euro but we called our own and paid 10.
I was so happy to get out of there and never see Mario again. He made my Rome experience an unpleasant one.

Support was amazing. Mario, the concierge was fantastic. The room was clean but not great (peeling paint, cramped -not like photos and the air conditioning fuse kept tripping) and no after hours staff.

Great staff and a good location. Need to be fit as there is only a very small lift so we tended to use the spiral staircase.Decor needs upgrading and the lighting in one of our rooms was poor but a good price for the location we were in.

Overall we had a good stay here. Nice hosts, good location. Accommodation was clean, nice big bed but was a littke tired in areas and not the best shower. It had a fridge but no kettle for making hot drinks which was a shame. We enjoyed our stay and had a fantastic visit to Rome.

We stayed here for 4 nights and had a wonderful time. Everything was clean and comfortable. Mario suggested a place for dinner our first night and it was the best food we ate on our entire trip. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good, quiet hotel.
