Villa Cicolina in Montepulciano

I can not say enough about our fantastic experience at Villa Cicolina. We arrived later in the afternoon than we expected and had missed the on site restaurant’s lunch time. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had something to eat and prepared a special meal for us that was so fresh and amazing. Matteo and Roberta were excellent. They helped secure my lost luggage from the airline courier and communicated with me regularly. The Villa is gorgeous. The grounds and pool are breathtaking. We stayed in the Cottage and it was a perfect mix of Tuscan coziness with modern amenities. AC worked great which was a must for us! My friends and I agreed that the breakfast offerings and the dinner we had on our last evening there was some of the best and freshest we experienced in Tuscany. Its location is very convenient to Montepulchiano and a short drive to Pienza and Bagno Vignoni which we also visited. I can’t wait to visit again!

I can’t say enough good things about this establishment. 10/5. The staff is friendly, accommodating; attention to detail is obvious. The grounds, buildings and rooms are beautiful, authentic and meticulously clean. The grounds are extensive, well maintained and lovely with niches for sitting, reading, sunning or contemplating the Val D’Orcia. Pool is clean and beautiful with the best view - it was incredible. Consider yourself lucky if you can get a room here- book it!!!!

There actually aren’t words to describe what a fantastic experience I had here with my 9 month old baby. We are travelling alone and we truly felt SO welcomed, cared for, and looked after. The staff are so kind and so willing to help. Alessia, Roberta, Matteo were just so helpful, but so were all of the service staff. Francesca was just beautiful. They greeted us with a smile and our names every time we saw them, gave my daughter big cuddles, and helped us organise transport when I had an issue with my rental car. The food is absolutely spectacular and the rooms are magnificent. We had two different rooms during our stay, and both were spectacular and both very different. If you want something more modern, I suggest the Vigna suite. Absolutely beautiful and a fantastic renovation of the existing 1500s base, with lots of modern touches. If you want the pure early renaissance Tuscan villa, go for the rooms within the villa itself. Both are gorgeous. The pool was perfect, the views incredible. The thing that sets this place apart though, is certainly the staff and the fantastic team they have compiled. You can tell they genuinely like each other and enjoy their jobs. They went out of their way, above and beyond. Truly. Just a fantastic experience all round. I have only positive things to say!

Our stay at Villa Cicolina for our honeymoon was magical! The property is beautiful and the staff are super friendly and accommodating. We stayed in a Senior Suite that was very spacious and the king size bed was super comfortable. The breakfast buffet was top notch! The infinity pool was beautiful. We enjoyed naps in the comfy lounge bed by the pool. Loved that you could whatsapp the staff and they would bring you whatever you needed including Spritz's by the pool. We did the wine tasting held in their romantic cellar with great wines and charcuterie. We also did the cooking class that was so much fun and then we got to eat what we prepared for dinner in their beautiful outside patio. Overall our stay was a 10/10 and we would definitely recommend!

What can I say that about this hotel that has not already been written. Its not the most luxurious hotel I've stayed at but it punches way above its weight in respect of customer service, friendliness and ambience. From the moment we arrived and were offered a complementary drink ( more expensive hotels ought to take a lesson), to the way they looked after me & my wife when I took ill for a couple of days, and the commitment to making one's stay as perfect as possible. A big thank you to Allessia on the front desk, Roberta the general manager, Roberto and Safi (waiters) and especially Maria the outstanding chef who made up special dishes to cater for my vegetarianism. The food was outstanding! Downsides, not many - we had to change rooms during the stay (a seamless operation) moving from a junior suite to a senior suite - I actually preferred the junior suite as the bed in the senior suite was not comfortable. We stayed 4 nights and out of the 5 hotels on our trip, this is the only one we will return to.

My sister and I arrived here for our four night stay. This is a very beautiful property. I couldn’t give it less than five even though I will say the place we stayed at before this, the people were beyond friendly and helpful. People working here were nice, but nobody made any attempt to go above and beyond. Couple of mornings I had to say Bongiorno first when I would see someone who worked there. I will say they were very helpful helping communicating when we had a driver who did not speak English. Our room was very lovely. Very clean. We had a bedroom plus sitting area. We had two chairs and a small table right outside our room that was a cozy, beautiful area. The pool was very lovely. There were many little sitting areas scattered around as well as a sitting/reading room. With everything blooming this was absolutely beautiful. We had very nice breakfast in the morning. We did eat here for dinner one night, which was very enjoyable. We did do a cooking class here. It was nice, but we did not do much of the cooking. The chef was very friendly, but the other people we were cooking with didn’t really seem interested in doing much cooking and I think perhaps she thought we were the same way. My sister and I are both big cooks and we’re hoping to engage in the prepping and cooking a bit more. I don’t want to take anything away from that. Maybe we should’ve said we were interested in cooking as much as possible. We had a lovely time here enjoyed all the different flowers and the easy location to different places.

Gorgeous Villa. Get the Il Balcone suite. Infinity pool with the best views in Tuscany. Restaurant a gem!

Stunning views, outstanding accommodations - villa grounds breathtakingly beautiful. Staff were fabulous

I would rate this hotel and its staff ten out of five if there is such a rating! My husband and I stayed three nights and we had a most memorable experience!

The grounds of the hotel is beautifully maintained, it is located on a hill overlooking the breath-taking Val d’Orcia. There is a beautiful infinity pool and many garden furniture for guests to sit and enjoy the million dollar view. Every staff member is a professional, even an artist, who excels in their work. The gardener works literally from sun rise to sun down to maintain an impeccable garden.

We want to express our most sincere thanks to hotel manager Roberta who personally helped us with a difficult situation. My husband had lost an important travel document so we had to submit a new application. Roberta helped us look for and then print out all necessary PO paperwork in the most organized way. She also directed us to the best photo studio so my husband could get his ID photo taken.

When time came for us to check out , we really didn’t want to leave. We will always this beautiful place and the beautiful people who work here to make Villa Ciconela a perfect little corner of heaven.
