Shiga Grand Hotel in Yamanouchi

I really enjoyed my stay at Shiga Grand Hotel — the location is incredible, right in front of the Ichinose ski area and within easy walking distance to the lifts, the staff were amazing and always supportive, and having both breakfast and dinner included made our ski days so much easier. The only downside was my partner’s mattress, which was quite uncomfortable; we didn’t mention it to reception because we were exhausted every night after skiing and snowboarding, but considering the price we paid, we expected a bit more comfort. Overall, what I liked far outweighed what I didn’t, and it’s still a great hotel with excellent service and an unbeatable location.

The overall experience was very positive. The room is comfortable and warm, but you have to accept the fact that you are in Japan and it is slightly older style. Nonetheless, very comfortable.

I would have to comment upon Aki who is the owner of the establishment. The level of courtesy that she extended us in helping us move from one hotel to another was just exceptional. She could not do enough to look after us. Highly recommended.

Australians staying in Shiga Kogen in Jan 26. We stayed in the Condo rooms - these appear to have been renovated recently and were very nicely finished.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast had a mixture of Western & Japanese options.
It was possible to finish skiing by skiing down between two hotels just across the road. To start skiing each day required the short ~100m walk down the road to the ski slope

Our stay at this ski resort was beyond anything we expected. The hospitality was truly amazing — the staff made us feel like family from the moment we arrived. Every interaction was warm, thoughtful, and genuine. The lady at the front desk was incredibly helpful and even went above and beyond by walking us all the way to the bus station to make sure we got on the correct one.

Yes, the rooms can be a bit cold, but the blankets are so warm that you stay perfectly comfortable through the night.

We had one meal during our stay, and it was absolutely delicious — prepared with care and full of flavor. Overall, this resort offered an unforgettable experience, and we left feeling genuinely cared for. Thank you for such a wonderful experience.

This amazing hotel is the starting point each year for a yearly off roading and skills riding event that brings adventure bikers from all over Japan together.

Right below the mountain, NO Foreign atm BRING EXTRA CASH. Closest one is about 30 min away. Other than that. This is a wonderful place to stay. They have restaurants close by too.

Simple room ocidental style little bit old but clean.24h sauna and ofuro.Have funny can food bar ,darts,tacos food.Breakfast and dinner is included.Free wifi

Close to slopes, good public bath, beds and not futons. Overall really good experience. 5/7 would do it again.
