Reviews
It is literally 2 minutes walk to Kin no Yu, around 2 corners. It is also a 10-ish minutes walk to Gin No Yu.
The location is about 5 minutes walk to the bus terminal.
The Arima onsen train station is a little bit further, but within 10 minutes walk.
Arima onsen is a little town and everything is within walking distance.
Really appreciated the service we received when checking in.
Please note that the check-in is at a different location around the corner. There are signs.
When we followed Google search, it gave us a location that was part the Toy Museum.
We booked 2 rooms for 2 people in each room and the whole place was ours.
Both rooms are upstairs. One room on top of the other.
As there are stairs going up to the accommodation, a recommendation is to pack lightly, unless you have a strong person in your party who can lift the suitcase.
The building is a traditional Japanese house with multi-storeys.
There are tatami mats on the floor in the living area.
The toilets and bathroom are all well cleaned, including the vent in the shower.
The staff helping at check-in showed us around the rooms and how to use everything.
She even helped us wipe the wheels on our suitcase.
The accommodation provides sweet senbei and yukatas for sleepwear.
This is a lovely accommodation and the rooms were a very good size with ample space.
I was able to relax completely and find true peace even amidst the overtourism.
The 12:00 PM checkout time allows for a more relaxed itinerary.
the appartement is big, well equipped and from the hotel they offer all kind of services. They also recommend how to get to sites, ships etc.
Check-in is at the Goshobo Inn.
Although it's a building from the Taisho era, it has modern locks, newly replaced tatami mats, and a stylish bathroom. Quite high-tech!
However, there's only a shower booth, so be sure to soak in the nearby Kin-no-yu hot spring.
Also, although it's a bit pricey, I think the Goshobo day-use hot spring is worth it.
In short, the location is superb. It was a valuable experience.
It is not staying in one room with a large number. As there are several private rooms, you will be able to free western-style rooms by the number of guests. There is only one Japanese-style room on the second floor.
The living dining room was spacious and it was good to have children grow and grow. There were an electric kettle, a microwave oven, a rice cooker, etc. in the kitchen, and the cooking utensils were also prepared.
There are also dishes, so you can enjoy cooking if you have the ingredients. Families with little children who can not eat out of the office can also be comfortable with others. You can spend the same time as your home, and you can go into a hot spring or go sightseeing, so if you let us forget a little everyday ... You can also book dishes as an option. You can check on the site. If you want to eat out, it is necessary to check in advance, as closing time often seems early. We are going to finish eating out, but it was awkward to find a store where children and grandpa grandchildren would be happy. After all it became an ordinary coffee shop, but it should have been searched in advance.
From the window you can look at the gold bath. There is also a bathroom, but it's just in front of the water, so I hope you'll go there. We walk a little to Gin no Yu, but there is feeling in town and walk is wonderful.
Oh, there is no parking lot by the side. You can park in the Arimari parking lot about 1 km away (5 minutes by car), and then transfer by car from the hotel. A parking fee will be charged each time you drive from the parking lot. You have to walk on the slopes to walk to the parking lot, so don't forget.
Cafe and Restaurants near hotel
The hotel has great private baths (note that they are only hot water, not mineral water) and shared mineral water pools.
They provide yukata and a very good overall experience.
There is free wi-fi, which reaches to most places (not to the wine bath though).
Couple of nit picks that I had with my stay were:
-at exactly 6:00 AM my TV turned on out of nowhere. I have not requested a wake-up call nor have I set up an alarm. If such a thing normally happens, I have read that it is a disaster warning (North Korea rocket 🚀 passing by, earthquake warning, etc.) but no, apparently Le Bron James had done something with Nike (it was all in Japanese). It wasn't a very pleasant experience so I unplugged the feeding cables to the TV.
Another thing is - Japanese have these bizarre work windows for their restaurants, where you need to be in one between 6 and 8 o' clock, else you stay hungry as they will close at 9. The hotel doesn't have a room service option (based on the English facilities menu) which is a bit of a shame, as I would've loved to have something to eat as I normally go for late night dinners.
All in all great stay. Would revisit.
I choose in in-room bath and meal service in the traditional Japanese room. Happy I did as everything was perfect.
As from my photos, the meals were lavish and over about 1 and a half hours. Presentation was perfect from the immaculately kimono dressed host.
The general access baths were also great, there are many options available. I did not have time to try all the private baths, so I guess I'll need to visit again.
The hotel is in a very private location, it's a bit of a hike the get up the hill, if not fit take the hotel bus.
