Arima Hot Spring nebi in Kobe

We booked the Japanese superior room with open air bath and was delightfully surprised that the rooms were much newer and nicer in person compared to the photos. Staff were extremely kind and accommodating. In my honest opinion, I think the dinner/breakfast were just okay, but the other amenities more than made up for it.

We arrived at the bus stop, made out way to the information center, who called the hotel and a shuttle bus picked us up within 5 mins. Super easy and convenient.

The in room onsen was great and another member of our party enjoyed the public bath as well. The hotel is located on a steep hill, but is walkable up and down. Shuttle bus also available the next day as well.

I was really impressed by the attention to detail at Arima Hot Spring Ryokan Hanamusubi. The team made a real effort to handle dietary requests properly, which I appreciated, and the room escort with a clear onsen explanation made everything feel easy from the start. It felt thoughtful and well organized throughout my stay.

Hotel is impressive in terms of service. They are very careful and detailed to take note and accommodate to dietary request of guests. The staff escorted us to our room and explained to us how to use the onsen.

Arima Hot Spring Ryokan Hanamusubi is a great onsen ryokan in Arima, one of the most famous onsen resort towns in Japan.

Located on the hillside above the Arima town area, the ryokan provides free shuttle service from the train station. From the hotel, you can also walk down Yumotozaka, the historic stone-paved main street lined with unique shops and restaurants, towards the station. Walking up, with luggage, is not recommended because the upper portion is quite steep.

While public and reservable private onsens, a.k.a. kashikiri buro in Japanese, are available to all hotel guests, the real gems undoubtedly are the rooms on the 6th floor with private outdoor onsens featuring Arima’s signature kinsen, or golden hot spring water. If you want to experience ginsen, the silver hot srping water, the only choice would be the public onsen.

The kaiseki dinner is typical of the kind served in onsen ryokan. Since you are in Kobe, the entree would likely feature beef. The ryokan contacts us ahead of time for any dietary restrictions, which is nice. You have a choice of eating dinner in your room or at the restaurant. Eating dinner in your room is a quintessential onsen ryokan experience, so that’s what we opt for. Japanese breakfast is also served in our room.

I used the plan for about 3 hours with lunch and a bath in a private room. The customer service was also polite. I thought the food would be delivered a little earlier, but I had an order for a bath after the meal, so I think it was in line with that. I couldn't eat dessert, so when I consulted, he put it in the fridge in the room so I could eat it after the bath. The hot springs were beautiful, the rice was delicious, and I was very satisfied. It was my first time going to a hotel and it was so much fun. Thank you very much.

It was written on the website that it was an open-air bath with a view of the mountains and the Arima cityscape, but the fence of the open-air bath was too high to see outside. It is a little cheaper than other hot springs, so I asked for it, but the amenities were great. There are two kinds of hot water, it is not small and there is plenty of parking, so it is easy to access.

Even though it’s expensive it’s worth staying here just once. It’s like a 5 star hotel and a ryokan had a baby. Food was amazing and the staff were unbelievably attentive. We returned to our room from a walk around the town and shortly after a member of staff came to offer us a warm towel and snack. The hotel Onsens are lovely too especially as the ones in town get busy. Note: For whatever reason, google has the review marker placed on a building that isn’t the ryokan. It’s behind it.

Fantastic! The walk out and night was nice and chilly and the onsen was super nice! There is a free shuttle service since it's up pretty high.
