Hotel Hillarys Akasaka in Tokyo

It was a fantastic stay. The staff was very service oriented and helpful.
The location is great with many eateries nearby and a couple of metro stations within walking distance

This time, there's a slight improvement: they finally replaced that ancient, unswitchable bedside lamp. However, the service staff's attentiveness is quite problematic. They just threw my pajamas on my suitcase without folding them. The front desk only offered a simple 'sorry' in response.

Location is good. Near the cbd district in my opinion. Lots of food options nearby (and we chanced upon really good ramen, sushi and izakaya) walking distance to two subway line which is awesome. The receptionist can converse well. Even rented me a plug to charge my phone as we forgot to bring one. However we booked the double bed room for 3 pax. Did not take note of the room size. It was too small that my sis-in-law had to book another single room. Other than that all is well. Hot shower works super good. Hot and strong water flow. Toilet bowl is not heated but we are okay with it. There’s free coffee/tea every morning and taste really good. Every night we can chill at the lounge for free beer and wine and spirits with snacks if we don’t wanna go to izakaya. Short train to Shibuya and Shinjuku area. A good mix of locals and tourist staying here. Will definitely consider to stay at this hotel again next time we visit! Off the beaten path find!

This hotel is in a great location, accessible to multiple subway lines and within walking distance of several key points of interest. Having stayed in Japan before, I was prepared for the smaller room sizes compared to North American standards; however, this room was exceptionally tight. There was not enough floor space to keep our suitcases open.

The highlight of our stay was definitely the on-site sauna, which we thoroughly enjoyed.

Unfortunately, the service felt unwelcoming. Most staff members avoided eye contact, creating a cold atmosphere. The exception was the non-Japanese native staff members; my mother, who enjoys sitting in the lobby in the mornings, found them to be much more approachable and friendly than the other daily workers.

A major downside for us was the smoking area located between the lobby and the elevators. Because it opens briefly to the outside when connecting the two sections, the lobby and walkway would frequently reek of cigarette fumes. While I understand that smoking is common and the hotel caters to many business travelers, the layout doesn't protect other guests from the secondhand smoke.

Summary: While the location and sauna are excellent, the lack of a welcoming atmosphere and the lingering smell of smoke make it hard to fully recommend for those sensitive to service or air quality.

The hotel's location is great, and it's clean, but it's a bit old-fashioned and not as good as it was a few years ago. I kept hearing gurgling sounds from the pipes at night. There are tons of places to eat downstairs.

The hotel has a really good location near the subway station. The street that it’s on is very lively and crowded at night as there are many bars around. However in the hotel room you can’t hear any of it, it’s very peaceful. 

The room was a little small but worth the price and clean. Hotel has great amenities too.

Super happy with this hotel for our 7 night Tokyo trip. The location was absolutely fantastic and I loved the decor of the hotel and room. Although the room was small, it is standard for Tokyo hotels in this price range. We made do with the space and we had two large suitcases. Please note that the bathroom sink is outside of the bathroom, so this may be inconvenient for some.

My colleagues booked this place for me because it's close to the office, and I didn't even realize it was available on Ctrip. I'm very familiar with the surrounding area; it's super convenient for shopping, dining, and people-watching. Rooms in central Tokyo are definitely not huge. There are two main perks: first, the rooftop terrace restaurant is perfect for breakfast, dinner, or even a small meeting. The buffet is great value, and the city view is unique. Second, there's a bathtub. There's a bar on the first floor, but no free bottled water. By the way, I highly recommend Restaurant Akatsuki next door. If you are planning to stroll in shibuya and want a hotel and good service try to book here. Near in train station and easy to find. Their breakfast buffet is good also🤗
