ART is wonderful! Excellent accommodations, down to earth vibes, super clean and comfortable. Absolutely perfect location for exploring Asakusa. Tucked away in a quiet corner less than five minutes walk from the main market leading to Senoji Temple. Owners Hattori Hideaki is a kind and generous man. He may seem gruff at first, but soon enough you see his heart of gold. A gem among gems

An Excellent Location for Asakusa Sightseeing
The location is simply the best for exploring Asakusa.
Major tourist sites like Kaminarimon Gate, Senso-ji Temple, and Nakamise-dori street are all just a few minutes' walk away. This convenience was extremely helpful when I wanted to visit the temple during the quiet morning hours or when I was tired from sightseeing and wanted to quickly return to the inn. Furthermore, the ryokan is tucked away slightly from the main, bustling streets, which allows guests to enjoy a peaceful and restful night's sleep. It is perfectly situated to enjoy both the lively atmosphere of Asakusa and the tranquility of a traditional inn.

I stayed here a couple weeks ago for my first 3 days in Japan. The owner was so kind and welcoming and showed us to our room, how to use the amenities/rules of the house. The place was very clean, neat and tidy. The old school feel of the place made you feel like you were staying with family. The room has air conditioning too which helped reduce the humidity while in the room. The noise did travel a bit and you could hear the doors close but with the AC and ceiling fan running it was barely noticeable. Also a plus was the location was perfect, off the main road a little ways from the crowd but still very accessible to Asakusa area. Highly recommend! I will definitely stay again next time I'm in Tokyo!

The best stay we had in Japan!
We stayed in three rooms at this ryokan, and it was by far our favourite accommodation during our whole trip to Japan. Yes, rooms are small — as is the norm in Tokyo — but the value for money here is incredible.

Everything was spotless. You have everything you need, the beds are comfortable, and we slept really well. The staff were super friendly and helpful.

The location is also perfect — close to several metro stations, with easy access to Shibuya and Shinjuku, and just a short walk from the Sensoji Temple and local markets.

No, it’s not a five-star hotel, but it doesn’t pretend to be. It’s clean, cosy, and welcoming. I honestly can’t think of a single negative point. If I ever return to Tokyo, the first thing I’ll do is check if they have availability.

Highly recommended!

I stay here every year, it's a great hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the rooms and clean and tidy. They are traditional Japanese style rooms, with a wet-room style shower and Japanese bath (short but deep). The location is very good too, with three stations within a few minutes walk (Asakusa Tsukuba Express line for Tsukuba and Akihabara, Asakusa Tobu Station for Haneda Airport and the Sky Tree, and the Ginza Subway Line for Shinjuku). Asakusa has some interesting shops, 24 hour supermarkets, and of course the Sensou-ji temple complex with the famous bell. There are a lot of restaurants too.

It's a bit of a hidden gem, considering how relatively cheap it is, and how easy it is to access everywhere else. With the exception of the pandemic years, I've stayed here every year since around 2006.

Stayed 3 nights. Simple small Japanese room, futon on floor with attached bathroom. Old style and no frills but quiet and excellent value for Tokyo. Great position in Asakusa walking distance to metro and lots of inexpensive places to eat. Friendly staff despite minimal English. Stored my bag when I went to Nikko.

Notice that my visit to the place has been a while(2019?).
Room was clean, japanese style room.
But it was little bit too small for me.
Maybe there could be a bigger room.

Location was great.
I didn't talk to host very much, so I can't say for the services but they were kind.

I would recommend this place to people who would spend most time outside during their trip but still want to have a sepearate room on their own.

Enjoyed my stay at this hotel when I was in Tokyo in May 2016. I will stay at this hostel again when I visit Tokyo next time!

I have been coming here for many years. It's always my to go place when I come to Japan. The owner is the second generation running the place and the services and prices are impeccable. From the morning tea to the soaking tub to the charming quiet rooms there is nothing to improve here. They even have laundry machine and dryer. The top of the building is nice place to hang out after a long day. Did I mention you can't beat the prices or the location. I'd give it 20 stars if I could.

Staff was excellent. Gave several good suggestions for what to do and how to get around. Rooms were nice and clean. Our flight was severely delayed from China and I emailed the staff to say I was going to be late. Of course things went worse and didn't arrive at the airport till after midnight when they thought it would be around 8pm. By the time we got to the area, it was almost 2 am and we had no idea how to find it. While walking around in the area looking and asking for help, one of the staff actually was walking around looking for us. I couldn't say anything better about the staff, they were so friendly and helpful. Next time I come back to Japan I'll be staying here for sure!

Wonderful friendly staff, with excellent English skill made sure everything was easy with all requests quickly accommodated. Comfortable accommodation with futons on tatami mats. Loved the deep Japanese-style baths. As a very affordable accommodation option in a very pricey and exciting district of Tokyo, it's hard to find anything to complain about. Please understand, this is a basic, more traditional Japanese style of accommodation rather than a big western-style hotel. You'll be familiar with the staff warmly getting you as you come and go, and the rooms and bathrooms are small. If you don't fold up your futon when you wake up in the morning, you won't have space, but if you're happy to try living like a local you're in for a treat at a very fair price.
