Reviews
Location is quiet and peaceful and a lovely place for walks.
Meals were provided which were pretty good with adequate choices.
Would strongly recommend this place!
We were looking for a place for our cycling group to stay near Karkyra and chose Karkara Glamping (Karkyra, Kyrgyzstan)—absolutely no regrets. This is a yurt camp in Kyrgyzstan where it’s comfortable to sleep, easy to wake up early, and great for lots of hiking.
The yurts are clean and warm; they are especially cozy at night. Bedding is new and everything is neat. I highly recommend the yurts with panoramic windows overlooking the rushing river, the mountains, and the helipad. Showers and restrooms are well maintained, and hot water was consistently available.
In the mornings there are tasty buffet-style breakfasts, and lunch and dinner are just as excellent. The chefs are evidently top-tier and cook very well. The staff is attentive and responsive, providing warm and homelike hospitality. Separate thanks to our excellent guide who led us along a forest trail to a beautiful spring-fed lake. There’s also a bar, and the variety of French wines was a pleasant surprise.
The glamping site sits by the river, surrounded by alpine meadows, mountains, and trails. There's plenty to do: mountain bikes for rent, marked trekking trails (we only managed one, but there are about 5–7), and horseback riding. You can even take a helicopter tour to Peak Pobeda and Khan Tengri. There is a sauna and a heated plunge pool. The free Wi-Fi is very fast, although mobile reception in the Tien Shan can be unstable.
It’s a remote place—that’s both the charm and the logistics. The road was a pleasant surprise: paved, wide, and new. If you’re planning a route via the Kegen/Karkyra border checkpoint, be sure to confirm its operating hours in advance. As for the weather, bring warm layers even in summer. All these points are easy to sort out if you confirm details with the administrators beforehand.
We strongly recommend Karkara Glamping if you’re looking for a comfortable yurt glamping experience in Kyrgyzstan and want to combine modern amenities with real nature. Book ahead for the high season—we snagged only one yurt with panoramic windows; the rest are standard, but also cozy and more affordable.
