Location is great and staff are friendly. Unfortunately, the hotel itself falls well below the standards of a 3*. Mould in bedroom and bathroom, broken window panes, holes in bedding. Advertised facilities (sitting room and television room) were not available. A pigeon entered the indoor breakfast area daily where buffet food was openly on display. It's a shame as the hotel could be fantastic given it location and history.

Had a recent holiday through Thomas Cook to this hotel. Hotel facilities are not as described on Thomas Cook or Hotel website & hotel room not as booked & full of mould. Admittedly Thomas Cook arranged for our room to be changed when the hotel wouldn’t act locally. Reviews post our booking describe similar experiences. Hotel is clearly undergoing extensive & significant refurb and is in a fantastic location but felt very let down by both hotel & travel agent that our decision was not based on what was advertised

We booked this hotel 1 night for around 150 euro with breakfast, relatively expensive for what we got. Maybe because it's long weekend there.
It's really good location. Classic old hotel but poor condition. Lifts are charming, small but still working. Our room is hidden in staircase area. We had windows with inner view - mean no view and a bit of sunlight. A/C is old but working (not too strong but it's ok) Beds were ok. Quite clean. And it's quiet to stay here.
Have refrigerator and 2 small water bottles.
Sockets in the room are UK type. But it havs 1 that work with my adapter (EU)
Bathroom were old and rusty. Small bathtub. Provided tubes of showergel , shampoo and small soap.
Old Way to do warm water, needs to mix hot and cold in right temperature to not burn you. And it's a bit stinks from those drain. Overall it's ok to think that we just 1 night stay here.
Breakfast room on the 5th floor, spectacular view of the harbour. Food were simple, bread, bacon, yogurt etc.
Staffs were nice, good service. It's super clean too.
It's a shame for location with so poor condition of the room.

The location is outstanding. You’re central to everything. Additionally, it’s a straight walk up from the bus station & a funicular ride down to the ferries. The staff is wonderful. They were all very helpful, knowledgeable & friendly. As others have said, the rooms are dated. However, my room served its purpose. It was a decent size & had a fridge. The bed was comfortable. Housekeeping did an excellent job of keeping everything clean. The tub was old, but there was always hot water & good pressure. There is A/C, but it’s not that easy to work. It’s from another time. You can see the buttons on the wall in the pic I attached. It just came on super cold. I couldn’t adjust the temp. Breakfast was good. It was the same every day, but that worked for me. A few things were odd like the canned fruit cocktail, but that’s the fun of traveling. Sometimes there was fresh fruit too. The staff up in the breakfast room was as accommodating as they could be. They were all super polite & nice. Overall, I had a great stay here. I especially appreciated the proximity to the buses to the airport & Rabat/Mdina as well as the ferries. I feel the price was reasonable for the location & breakfast. It’s not fancy, but the price reflects that. I was told that the hotel is going to get completely renovated. I think they said early next year. They weren’t sure if the hotel will be completely shut down during the renovation. I would stay here again for the right price.

Most of the staff were friendly and helpful, with the unfortunate exception of the receptionist on duty on Wednesday, 16/07/25. When I approached her with a complaint, she became confrontational and raised her voice as I walked away, which was both unprofessional and upsetting. I felt my concerns were not being taken seriously, and my attempt to resolve the issue went nowhere. I also reached out to management afterward but received no response. As others have mentioned, the hotel is in noticeable disrepair and in urgent need of maintenance and renovation.

This hotel is very well located close to the harbour and Valettas other amenities and attractions. The ataff are polite and helpful and the food served at breakfast perfectly good. The hotel is old which is a major part of its charm, but this is offset by ts condition. it's quite run down in places. Out bathroom was in serious need of renovation with many other aspects of the hotel needing bringing up to modern standards. Nice place though.

Great location let down by dated tatty rooms, Bathroom was full of cracks with stained tiles, bath and shower curtain. First thing evident on entering our superior room was huge scratches on floor from ill fitting door. Air con barely working from ancient and dirty flues. Breakfast was quite frankly appalling by todays standards, small selection in tiny area meaning jostling with others to get food. Coffee machine laughable in time it takes to operate. Tinned fruit cocktail! British breakfast provided, Bacon swimming in grease in a warming tray, beans cold every day. £650 for 4 nights. I have stayed in some brilliant places for this money. In need of urgent repair throughout. Avoid.

The location of the hotel was ideal for exploring Valletta with everything you want to see within walking distance. However, the hotel itself is dated and a little rundown. It could do with some major investment. The facilities on offer were very basic and that applies to the breakfast. The staff are friendly and try to be helpful but the condition of the hotel tarnishes everything else.

Old hotel 🏨 facilities Because there is no ventilation system, the room smells a bit damp. The only reason for us to book the hotel is that you can go to Barrakka Gardens and turn left 20 meters away. It costs 1 euro to take the elevator downstairs. The ferry to 3cities (Three Sisters Cities) is across the road. The terminal is very convenient. At the same time, St. John's Cathedral 💒 and Mint Street are within a 10-minute walk.

Only used the cafè and toilets here. Toilets were filthy. Paper on floor. No bn for paper although it said do not put in toilet. Smelly toilets too. Cafe was nothing special, definitely not a good variety of cakes
