Novotel Marrakech Hivernage in Marrakech

This hotel was relatively nice, however we left a pair of shorts in our room, and called a day later to see if they had found them and if we could come pick them up. They told us that they do not have a lost and found and that if their housekeepers find any left items, they usually just keep them, which is extremely odd.

Unimpressed. I've stayed in Ibis hotels with far better infrastructure and services. Rooms are spacious but basic, and infrastructure is worn down. The bar/restaurant is quite underwhelming and breakfast options are scarce. On top of that, breakfast starts at 6.30 but do not expect any kind of hot trays (not even boiled eggs) or baked goods until well after 7. Accor membership benefits are not acknowledged unless you ask (and even then, I was refused an early check-in even though it is part of my membership).

Location is ok. Easy access to the old town, the French quarter and the airport. However, there's not a lot around the hotel. Everything is at least a 15-min walk away.

Water is not safe for drinking in Marrakech. However, the hotel does not provide guests with drinking water, everything is charged separately.

The evening manager is the highlight of the hotel. She's truly excellent. Attentive, kind and eager to help.

The hotel is located in a very nice area, and that’s definitely its strongest point. The neighborhood feels lively and convenient, with plenty of things nearby. Unfortunately, the hotel itself does not live up to the standards you would normally expect from a Novotel.

The property feels very old, and that affects the overall impression from the moment you walk in. Most of the reception staff seemed unprofessional, with the exception of one lady who genuinely tried to maintain a proper level of service and help guests feel welcome.

The rooms are also very old, and because of their condition, they appear dirty even when they are cleaned. The towels look extremely worn out—easily 10 years old—and some even have a yellowish tint, which is not acceptable for a hotel of this category.

I stayed for a total of two weeks, and during that time I ordered room service multiple times. The food was very average. The burger, which was available only once, was the best option, but in general the menu is limited and the kitchen closes at 23:00, which can be inconvenient.

One thing I must mention is that I didn’t feel fully safe at the entrance area, especially during the evening.

Overall, the location is great, but the hotel urgently needs renovation, improved cleanliness, and better staff professionalism to match the Novotel brand.
