Hotel Alto Lido in Funchal

Everything was perfect from start to finish. The staff were friendly, professional, and always willing to help with a smile. The room was spotless, spacious, and very comfortable, with everything needed for a relaxing stay.

The hotel facilities were excellent, and the overall atmosphere was welcoming and relaxing. The location was convenient, and the service exceeded my expectations throughout my stay.

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Madeira and would definitely stay here again. Thank you to all the staff for making my visit so enjoyable!

Overall good experience, staff seem lovely, though reception first on checking in felt a little cold.
Advice to use all amenities, book sauna in advance it’s lovely, infra red. I used it after long day in city and hikes - perfect rehabilitating sore muscles. I also booked hot stone massage which was perfect in combinations with sauna after my long morning hike and early start of the day. Ladies from spa are so so lovely very accommodating and offering some tea after procedures.
Coming back to clean room and made up bed made my day after coming back from adventures - I wish I could give a personal hug to the room service.
Otherwise amenities are a little dated, outdoors pool and sun loungers are okay but there is deffenately some wear and tear on outside terrace.
Room fridge was empty just with a rusty bottle opener left in it. Bathrooms a little dated. Room was comfortable.
Didn’t use my kettle as that deffenately looked like needed some descaling.
Another big downside was music every night in restaurant area, I could deffenately feel and hear the base on the second floor (2 floors inbetween restaurant and 2nd floor) until it stopped. Past 22:00, sometimes 23:00 o clock. Which was a little disappointing in regards soundproofing and early nights and early starts for adventures and hikes around the island.
Toiletries provided - just a shower cap and same shower gel for body and hair all in one.
I must say overall happy with sauna services provided, well equipped gym, but, overall, I’ve stayed in 4* hotels that have been a little more up to date and bit more characteristic.
Drinking water will have to be bought from supermarket just downstairs from hotel which was convenient and reasonably priced.
Got all inclusive breakfast which was average okay. Filled the spot.
Though, some artwork is very beautiful around hotel.

Lovely hotel for a 4* although somethings could be improved on: there was no milk in the tea and coffee organiser, and this was not filled up each morning. Not much in the way of toiletries in the barhroom, and and body wash, about it. There were pool towels left on the bed, didn't use them so don't know how they were changed. No in or board, had to pay for the safe.
Location was excellent, restaurants very close by, car hire 200m away. Bus to funchal 3 times a day and return.
The staff were excellent. We had a problem with my wife's jacket which went missing. Some of the staff looked for it but it took Cristina Lucy's to find it under the front desk. Indeed anything we asked Cristina to do for us was no problem and done immediately, any problems - go see her!. Restaurant staff were helpful, room cleaners very pleasant, (apart form one who grunted at us!)

Wonderful and modern and clean. Lovely food and great staff at all the bars and waiters make great conversation. Drink is great and so is the lovely big bed. Only negative is the air conditioning which remains static at 18 degrees and blows hot air meaning the balcony needs opened at night to keep room cool.

All I'm all an excellent family hotel.

Very good location for a lot of activities around the hotel, friendly staff that helps you 24/7. At the evening there is a band playing some live music every evening for +- 1,5 hour. Every day there was a snack, fruit, .. that they give for free while they clean your room. Overall a good location, price/quality and I can recommend this place to have a pleasant holiday :) (if you take the room with sea view, you always have the sunset at your side)

I was 6 days in this hotel. I booked a total of 2 weeks with half board and I am more than thrilled. Very friendly staff at the reception both in the dining room and in the spa. Everything was very very clean and the food in the restaurant was very tasty, with taste and appearance every day morning and evening. I highly recommend this hotel. Booked as a package tour through the operator

We were upgraded to a room with a sea view. I recommend booking only this room, it is perfect. Own balcony with a sofa.
The hotel was full of pensioners from bus tours. The location is not very good, parking is very expensive (30 euros/night), but because of the view we forgave everything)

Amazing hotel, friendly staff.
Got upgraded to a nicer room, view as obstructed by construction, but I won't complain as we got a bigger room.
Parking was paid, but not to expensive.

An excellent & very comfortable short stay. All staff were very polite & friendly. Room was spotlessly clean. A wonderful buffet spread at breakfast with every choice of food. I used the outdoor sun deck & indoor pool….amazing!

The hotel is located near the embankment, has a good view of the ocean. Large rooms with a balcony. Wi-Fi is fast. Breakfasts are very varied and delicious.
