Absolutely gorgeous and clean facilities, pools, rooms, and dining. I highly recommend the half board option, the food and service was impeccable. The staff was gracious enough to upgrade our room as a celebration for a HUGE job promotion I had just received (and the reason for my trip). Can’t recommend this place enough. The demographic is a bit older but my fiance and I expected this. The sites poolside were breathtaking and there were plenty of places to sit. Great wine selection and the menu at the main restaurant changed nightly making it so we never got bored. 10/10 Cliff Bay!

We paid for an ocean view room that came with either a king or twin bed. We were celebrating our 15 year wedding anniversary so before we went I sent them a message asking if we could have the king bed with a great view of the ocean. To my surprise they put us in the most beautiful suite, a gesture that was kind and beautiful but not expected at all. Such a fun surprise and made for an amazing experience at the Cliff Bay hotel for our first time in Madeira.

The location and views were amazing. The staff was friendly everywhere except the reception. No greeting, no smile. That alone ruined the experience of staying at this hotel. But I think it's a coincidence.

This place was an absolutely incredible experience. Very very pricey (the most expensive meal I've ever had), but worth the complexity and unique flavours and presentations. Highly highly recommended doing at least once!

I spent my birthday there with my boyfriend. The food was fabulous, the waitress was attentive, the atmosphere was romantic, last but not least, my boyfriend is the best! ?

One of the best restaurants we've eaten at. From the moment we arrived till we ledt we felt that we were most welcome. We got to visit the kitchen, an amazing experience. And the food was very high standard, worthy of two Michelin stars. The wine pairing was spot on, only very good portugese wine wich really matched the food, all the pairing were magnificent, and some were magical. It's expensive, but worth it!!!

Wish I took more pictures! Was too busy enjoying the lovely food. We went for the golden ball experience. Found it was quite a bit of food, but it was great. They even gave us free champagne and cake as it was our anniversary.

Our favourite restaurant The Cliff Bay which we have stayed at well over 25 times and how many nights I have lost count of, is splendid, the staff are magic.

Well, Philippe certainly knows how to feed you. Try the fish , the best selection on Madeira.
Always goog for a laugh, that's if you are broad minded, have eaten here for years and hopefuĺly will be able to do so for years to come, thats if the results of the UK elections don't cock it up.

Pretentious and bad value proposition compared to local alternatives (apparently the prices used to be significantly lower)... waited an hour for the starters which were mediocre and the main course swordfish was overcooked and dry, coffee was capsule based etc., wines were good though, current prices are 50-80 EUR/person/2-3 course meal incl. drinks

A really excellent restaurant. Old fashioned in a good way, thoroughly enjoyed the food. The manager Francisco, was walking around offering help and good service. The Madeira style tuna was delicious and well cooked. If you're visiting Funchal, it is worth a visit!

If you are happy to pay €4.50 for a bottle of water and €7.00 for a small basket of bread for two then the rest of the experience is worth a visit. The service was good and the food tasty. Not much of an atmosphere but ok overall.
