Madeira Panorâmico Hotel in Funchal

We very much enjoyed our stay here. The views are great, the beds are comfortable and the breakfast buffet has a wide range of choice. However, the reception staff were outstanding – it’s not often that you get excellent service with a sense of humour. They were really exceptional.

Pleasant hotel . Depending on your fitness levels walkable to the centre and also to the Lido area. We were given a room initially but the view was marred by a tree so we asked for a higher floor, they found us room 150 and the views were great. Our room had been updated , however we were disappointed not to find bath robes, it would have been nice to wrap up on a morning to enjoy the views with a coffee and they would have also been useful when using the indoor pool. Shower fine although a strange residue of a previous non slip covering on the floor of it. Handles on wardrobe ridiculously hard to use, tiny and hurt when you gripped them as small and square with sharp edges. Mini bar well stocked , tea and coffee and kettle provided although only decaf coffee ?? and only 2 small portions of milk. The lady cleaning the room did start to leave 4 portions about 4 days into the holiday. Breakfast was lovely, loads of choice and we sat outside each morning looking at the view. The outdoor pool looked lovely but we did not use as weather mixed but it was a nice area of the hotel, the indoor pool area and gym however was tired looking and needs investment as due to the weather it would have been used much more . We ate in the a la carte restaurant twice , food tasty but service slow . The cocktail bar was nice but a bit dated but there is a small outdoor seating area and you can get snacks. Tips, ask for a higher room . Download the Bolt taxi app. Use the courtesy bus sometimes , a great plus for the hotel. Wear suitable shoes for the hills .

Booked this hotel rather later than we usually would & based on facilities & previous reviews. Location a little outside the main resort of Funchal so relied on the excellent hotel shuttle bus & the Bolt taxi app for local transport as we didn’t want the hassle of car hire. From check in to check out service was courteous & efficient, including assistance tracking down a mobile phone we had left in a Bolt taxi. Our room with a view of the harbour was spacious, comfortable & cleaned daily. Buffet breakfast extensive & well provisioned, with attentive staff at all times. The a La carte restaurant on site, used on three evenings, is highly recommended, for service, quality & value. Cocktail bar is a nice facility, with regular entertainment & a cocktail happy hour at 6pm. The local dance group is a must see. Indoor pool warm & clean, with great changing & shower facilities. The gym is ok but perhaps due an update. However, we were there for a holiday, not a work out. We didn’t try the outdoor pool, but this looked lovely. Plenty of organised trips with hotel pickup/drop off available to book. We also bought grandstand tickets for the Carnaval procession which was a wise choice as, although spectacular & well worthwhile, it lasted three hours. Overall we would recommend this excellent hotel for couples & small family groups. And yes, we would be happy to stay again, unreservedly.

Booked through Love Holidays and loved this hotel. Travelled with my sister and we were given rooms with sea views at the front of the hotel. Rooms were spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Thanks to previous reviews we used the Bt app for transport around as the hotel shuttle to Funchal never worked out with suitable times for us. We also used the app, Get Your Guide, to book activities including the Best of the West tour which was a great introduction to the island and visits to scenic coastal villages. We also booked the eco catamaran dolphin and whale watching trip from Funchal harbour and were lucky to see both. Our final activity was a tuk tuk pick up from the hotel up to Monte for the toboggan ride, which was great fun. The hotel catering and hospitality team is exceptional as is the housekeeping and reception team that we encountered. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. We would love to return, thank you.

We arrived by coach transfer from airport,roughly,50 minutes,twisting and turning,the accent to this hotel,Yes Maderia is up and down,but that can easily be overcome,if you are not up to it,This hotel has a day time,very well organised courtesy mini bus,at set times,it will drop you off in Funchal,and at same point ,pick you up. We used this each day by prebooking at reception ,night before,its all Free. After 6pm we got a bus,number 45 back at 2 euros each,or taxi,at 10 euros for 4 people,no waiting with taxis everywhere. So the reception is professionally set up,efficient,polite and extremelly helpfull,not found this any where else,on this scale. The rooms ,2,had sea view balconies,with the whole of funchal across the harbour,end to end in sight,with fantastic views of mountains in the back ground and the chairlift,rideing above the central highway bridge.,not chair life is being seasonally serviced till April,so get bus . Rooms had it all,kettle,and all accesories,big tv,lined curtains,comfy beds,nice sheets,spotless housekeeping,walk in shower.,heating,soft towels. We all had b/b,good selection,all a bit different for english breakfasts,but easily adaptable,more continental,and plenty of it. After being out all day,we hurried back for the happy hour,as alcoholic drinks were nearly half price and cocktails,Lovely. We tried the evening Buffet ,but at 32 euros each,it was expense,and very Bland,compared with fresh served meals in the multitude of resteraunts in town,which like for like far cheaper. Although,as a treat the Ala Carte resteraunt,under the pool was extra special,But usually quiet ,and it had No ambiance,. We all agreed,it was a Hotel to reccomend,and especially ,all the staff,who made our hard earned holiday EXTRA special.

Myself and friend stopped at this hotel on the 9th October for 4 nights. Its a lovely hotel and we had such a beautiful sea view room. Breakfast was nice and their cappuccino's are to die for, the best I've ever tasted from any hotel I've ever stayed at and trust me I've stopped at many. The hotel is hilly, walking down is fine, walking up does take it out of you but Madeira itself is hilly but it's a beautiful place and definitely worth a visit. The pillows at the hotel were terrible, so flat but other than that couldn't fault it. Breakfast was never busy and nice food. Cleaners were in every day and some staff friendly with a welcoming smile others not so much. Shuttle bus we used a couple of times which is best to book a little in hand. The restaurant within the hotel is lovely, definitely worth a visit. Heated pool inside was great, jacuzzi not warm enough. Funchal is like 5 minutes away in taxi, we downloaded the bolt app so was between €2.50 to €3 so very cheap. Do the cable car and toboggan ride in Funchal so much fun. CR7 museum was good if you like Christiano Ronaldo plus we got to take pictures outside his house which was a short walk away. I would love to come back here with my husband, 9 year old and 5 year old. Madeira is beautiful 😍

This is the second time we have spent a glorious week at the Hotel Panoramico. The experience is outstanding in every respect ... magnificent views across Funchal, most comfortable bedrooms, courteous and helpful staff, outstanding food with a range of choices, two swimming pools (outdoors and indoors), gym, tennis, spa, sauna, jacuzzi, turkish bath ... I could go on and on listing all the plusses of staying here. Best simply to say that you can't beat excellence! Well done everyone.

For a four-star hotel, the pillows is too bad, uncomfortable, maybe because it's the cheapest room? The toilet flushing noise is kinda loud, but it's quiet room after all. No electric kettle in the room, 2 euros for 1L mineral water. Nothing else to complain about. Clean and tidy, staff are friendly and professional, good service.

We spent a very enjoyable week with breakfast and dinner included in this hotel.Charming staff. Very clean, rooms well appointed, extremely comfortable beds, could do with bigger towels. They charge for the safe.The food was good not outstanding. could do without the pigeons when sitting outside. Lovely pool and good indoor pool, plenty of beds with cushions and umbrellas available.Nice outside pool bar. Had excellent massage.The shuttle bus works well, but please book with reception.We had a very pleasant stay. access to Netfix on TV would be a bonus as not too many English channels.
