Had never visited Madeira before, stayed on B&B for 9 nights in mid March with my husband, booked with Jet2. We mainly chose this hotel due to it's location, we wanted to be able to easily walk into the historic centre of Funchal in about 25 minutes, we didn't want to stay in the Lido hotels area which is a bus ride from Funchal. The Next Hotel was very convenient for walking in, a short downhill section to the seafront which is very scenic, walking past the cruise port, Ronaldo hotel & the Santa Caterina gardens above etc, a flat & attractive stroll into town. When you come home obviously there's a 150m slope uphill to the hotel which was fine for us but might be hard for people with limited mobility. If you carry on up this hill another approx 200m you reach an area with several restaurants & bars useful for evening meals, though we personally found some of them quite overpriced. We found the Next Hotel to be very clean, the room was thoroughly cleaned every day. Our room, on the 5th floor had a lovely sea view & we could see the Porto Santo ferry & sometimes part of a cruiseship. There's a road between the hotel and the sea. The 11th floor Cloud bar & rooftop pool had the best view of all, very panoramic. Our room was very spacious with a massive bed, a little firm but comfortable, there was plenty of hanging space but only 1 drawer so we had to keep some items in our cases. The bathroom had a strange layout, the toilet, bidet & 1 sink were separate from the shower & the other sink which was near 1 side of the bed. Overall the room was very modern & spacious, it had everything you needed. It was very quiet at night too. Breakfast at the hotel had a good selection of foods, plenty of fruit, yoghurt, cereals, salad, hot cooked items, pastries, cake, even sparkling wine to make Bucks Fizz & Portuguese custard tarts every day etc ! We noticed another guest had fried eggs on their plate 1 day so we asked a waiter for some, you can have them made but noone tells you this. There was only 1 4 slice toaster instead of a toast machine which caused queues sometimes. If you went for breakfast later, say after 9am, you often had to queue for a table to be cleared. The staff both at reception & in the breakfast room were rather impersonal I feel, they were polite & efficient but you didn't get to know any of them or have a laugh with them. We knew before we arrived that the Next Hotel is trying to target young, trendy people by the "wacky "decor in reception, the lifts, & especially the 1st floor corridor that leads to the bridge over the road to the main pool area by the sea, events at the rooftop bar & Recharge restaurant. This is definitely not working !!!! As the majority of guests, including ourselves are over 60 ! The music in the corridors, lifts etc didn't put us off, the hotel was a good base for exploring Funchal & Madeira in an excellent area. We only used the pool area 1 day due to the weather unfortunately, as I say you go in the lift to th

Good location, no atmosphere, rooms very clean throughout our stay. Pool not clean. Quiet surroundings

What a superb hotel, absolutely spotless, location a walk down the hill to the port, where the town centre is, and round the back some great restaurants, we didn't get the weather but packed waterproof coats so didn't stop us exploring. The breakfast is fabulous everything you could possibly want and more, particularly loved my bucks fizz. We have been to dubai and this hotel is on par with their high standards. Plenty of hidden gems in madiera, highly recommended the tropical gardens just stunning.

I have stayed here three times now, and it continues to be great every time. You can't beat the value, location, rooftop bar and friendly team. Splash out a little extra for the suite with bigger balcony - well worth it!

We booked bed and breakfast, double standard with sea view Room good sized , bed very comfy , pillows lumpy , they could do with an upgrade Kettle fridge cups in room Nice balcony to look at sea view , tv no English channels I did find that the lighting in room was on the dull side , struggled at night to take contact lenses out , buts that’s my opinion Cleaning side , no faults there , the cleaning team work hard to keep it spotless , and friendly , knock on door , if you don’t want room clean they ask if you need towels or water I thought the hotel lacked an atmosphere , not many staff about , the ones we saw we mainly at breakfast, doing the usual morning greeting I read other people’s reviews regarding a sewage smell . In no way is that anything to do with the hotel , when you leave hotel and cross the road to go down the hill that’s when you can smell it , it’s not pungent , just a slight whiff Would I return , most definitely, been to far worse hotels in the past Thoroughly enjoyed my time here

This was our second stay here with first in January 2025. We were delighted that the Hotel has retained the same levels of service, and we had an enjoyable 2 week holiday on a bed and breakfast basis. With the bonus of good weather, we were able to enjoy sun lounging on the rooftop and the lower areas. At times the roof is just too breezy so having the lower area is advantageous. There are lots of loungers which are reasonably comfortable. Rooms are modern and well equipped with a super comfy bed, the lack of storage is an issue though. We had an ocean view room on the 4th floor which was great. The lower floors can have obstructed views from vegetation and a canopy structure. The city view rooms especially at the lower levels should be avoided as some of them have a balcony adjacent to a narrow lane with a view of buildings to the rear of the hotel. The buffet breakfast is good with some excellent sweets treats the highlight. The rooms and public areas are kept very clean and the hotel feels very fresh. It's a good hotel in a great location and is worthy of recommendation. There is a serious downside though, as the price with Jet2 for the same period in 2027 has increased by 50% which has sadly pushed this hotel to an unjustifiable cost level.

Nice hotel but half board menu very restricted with two options on each course. Entertainment very poor with only disk jockey most nights. Staff very nice.

Next Savoy is a modern hotel with exquisite design. I loved the cleaning robot, the lift doors with Wicked movie characters, the neons, the music, the nice and joyful atmosphere. The breakfast was absolutely excellent, with diversity, what a beautiful surprise to find chia yoghurt! The food at Recharge restaurant was excellent as well and very innovative. I loved the grasshoppers experience. The room was modern and beautiful, with a sofa and a beautiful view on the ocean. The staff was so nice. Special thanks to Jessica from front office for her kindness and precious recommendations. Thanks to her i saw the pilot whales with VMT Madeira. She gave me other precious advices. The location was also excellent, 15mn walk to the Marina and in a quiet area. I really enjoyed staying at Next Savoy Hotel and its great vibes. I would be happy to come back in the future.

The hotel is quite OK, with a good location in the city. The room and balcony were great with a nice view and the breakfast was acceptable. The staff is good, especially the maids, but some female staff at reception & reception bar unfortunately do not seem to be at all interested in the hotel guests who pay their salary. They rarely looked up from their computers & tablets and rarely said "hello". Another disadvantage is the loud strange music that is played everywhere in the hotel, from breakfast until late at night - inexplicable! The latter things will probably mean that we will not return there because there are lots of fantastic hotels in the city.

Wonderful modern experience, classy hotel with nice service. Maybe a little more info on checking in would help. The rooms were nice, contemporary and very functional, Little balcony and a sea view and views of the town. There is roof top bars , DJ on and then a chilled vibe the next morning with a cracking breakfast! Everything you can think of plus some new extras - aloe vera jam , protein powders , detox drinks ! Would return

Excellent food.
The staff are extremely friendly as shown by the chef that genuinely cared and asked if everything was to our satisfaction.
Could easily have been a restaurant we overlooked but we are glad we took the leap and enjoyed a wonderful meal.
Strawberries on the profiteroles were picked fresh from their own plants.

Only 1 star because the waiter ruined the whole experience by not being careful and served a glass of fresh orange juice full of worms!!!!! I have never experienced this in my whole life. I doubt the place is hygienic!!! It's a shame because the food was delicious but after seeing all the worms in my juice I don't even want to imagine what is happening in the background. Not recommended! Worst and the most disgusting experience ever!!!!

Very unassuming location and not very visable from the road. Food was excellent and service was wonderful.

Can't tell it's there at all from the road but what fantastic food and service. Excellent.
