Castillo Playa in Caleta de Fuste

We had a very nice stay at these apartments and there is much to recommend. The location is superb - three minutes to the coast with its beautiful promenade and between five and fifteen minutes to the many excellent restaurants in resort. The apartments themselves are spacious and with ample storage space. Facilities for self catering are good. The terrace is also a generous size with ample room for tables, chairs and sun beds. The pool is big enough for a decent swim though we found it too cold in March. The bar offers a good selection of food and drink though it is currently operating shorter hours due to staff shortages. There is a real community feel about the complex and everyone is very friendly indeed. The one thing that lets the place down slightly is the standard of cleanliness. This is not the fault of the team of ladies who service the apartments. They do their best in the time they are given. The place needs a comprehensive deep clean to get into all the corners in the bathroom, to bleach the grout, to reach the window frames above head height. I understand that a refurbishment program is planned and when that happens we would love to return.

Usually stay in the caybech bungalows but got a better deal to stay here so gave it a try. Location is great and feels very secure. Rooms are dated but clean. Really not far from anything at all. Personally preferred the caybeach but I would return.

We visited for 5 weeks January /February. As always the bungalows were excellent. The staff are all superb.

First visit to Castillo Playa and would definitely return and recommend. Clean, if dated, apartment with everything supplied for a self catering holiday, fresh towels daily and cleaners on site to keep the apartment fresh and clean. We eat in and out and lots of choice available within the wider resort, been in Caleta a few times over the last 4 years and always something new to try and favourites to return to. 2 sun loungers in patio means no rush/queue for beds around the pool, pool is large with plenty of space for all and deep enough for a good swim in parts. On site bar/restaurant is good value for money with friendly staff and quality food. We did encounter a coupe if issues, TV not working and toaster blown (which affected full apartment) but both fixed quickly and with a friendly smile. Number of people we met on site who were staying for 5 weeks plus or return visitors (some 18 years plus) says it all and I’m sure we will return soon

This is the most fantastic place. The staff are all lovely. the location is fantastic. The ladies who run the bar/restaurant in the complex are the best and seriously know how to cook good food. The bungalows are comfortable, spotlessly clean but do need a little paint job. My only complaint is the internal furniture which squeaks terribly and the bed are not the most comfortable. If the beds were renewed, we would not hesitate to come back here again.

We just came back from this lovely place . We were there over Christmas . Lovely bungalows. Very spacious . Very clean. Lovely pools. Very friendly staff . Bar food was nice. Towels changed most days. Beds changed regularly. Would definitely recommend. Would definitely return. Very central location 5 mins walk to the Main Street / beach.

These bungalows are a lovely place to stay. They are very spacious with a good shower room and well equipped kitchen. We self catered and there were plenty of utensils and pots and pans. Plenty of storage and power points. As others have noted the decor is dated but this doesn’t detract from the stay. The private terrace with sun loungers is a real bonus. We found people ready to hand on their sun bed cushions and umbrellas between guests as they were leaving which is really lovely. The cleaners are exceptionally good and friendly and they take a lot of trouble with keeping the whole place clean and tidy and the gardens beautifully maintained. The pool is spotless. It’s lovely and quiet at night as it’s a little bit set away from the commercial centre. There’s a cafe which we didn’t use but was very popular. They sell big bottles of water to save you carrying them back from the supermarket. It’s a very short walk to the beach and the commercial centre. The hyperdino there is very well stocked. Do note you’ll need to pack hand soap, washing up liquid and sponges and dishcloths although they provide tea towels. The supermarket does sell small packs ideal for a week or two. We also packed a sharp knife as we mostly did our own cooking. We also packed a tin and bottle opener. Hope that’s a helpful tip. There are plenty of bars and restaurants in walking distance and if you’ve not visited this resort before you’ll find that they are very geared up to British visitors rather than local Spanish flavours. We found Tommy Nutters bar to be worth the walk up the hill for very good food (fish Friday) and friendly service. Otherwise we tended to self cater which was easy in the bungalow with a lovely terrace to eat on. There is a great bike hire place - caleta cycles just round the corner which we used and there are cycle paths in resort but if you’ve go further afield be prepared to use roads or go off road.
