Reviews
The food was brilliant, loads of variety and really tasty options available each day. The wine is served from the bottle so not watered down, and tasted very good. If you want water it is bottled mineral water which was fantastic. The beer was Amstel not my favourite, however as it was served so cold it was lovely. The coffee could be improved as could the fruit juices.
The entertainment was very good, the entertainment staff were lovely. All the hotel staff were very nice and attentive.
We found the beach quite shaded so ended up at the family pool more as it felt a lot warmer and sunnier there.
Rooms were cleaned really well with fresh towels daily.
Would definitely stay again.
My partner ended up proposing on the beach so it holds a sentimental spot in my heart now.
The hotel itself was stunning, very posh and modern. The view from the little pool was stunning, we had one of the ground floor walk up balconies and was perfect if you were wanting to sit out but also pop to the pool bar.
The staff have all been so lovely and very accommodating but I need to mention one person in particular who has just went above and beyond; that is Diego the chef. I have a dairy allergy and always find it hard when eating out to find things that won't make me ill. Diego made my holiday so much more enjoyable just knowing that I was safe in his hands and he always asked if I wanted dessert as well which was always unreal and always looked unbelievable.
He has been absolutely spot on, his warm welcoming smile always made our evening when we'd go for tea. I really hope the hotel knows what a absolute star he is. I honestly couldn't recommend this hotel enough.
However, the staff at the hotel were not as impressive. We didn't feel we had a warm welcome at the reception when we arrived. One day our room wasn't cleaned so we didn't receive clean towel and mats and made bed and a general clean. I went down to reception and they were not interested, and said I'll have to go to the back of the list for the evening clean & should get a room clean around 9pm...
Also, on check out we asked to order a taxi hour prior to our anticipated departure to the airport and the lady on reception said we should have booked it 24h in advance, okay fine but no one told us this was the case when we arrived, plus I've stayed in Cala Dor many times and this has never been the case. The lady at reception said she can try and book one for us - come 1pm (30 before we was due to leave for the airport) I went back and asked if they had managed to book our taxi and they had no record of my request. I asked for them to call again for me and they were fully booked until 3pm that day. I asked what I should do and the lady shrugged her shoulders and said just walk 5 minutes up to the road to a taxi rank, you might get one ... might? Okay so we might make our flight then.
Luckily for us we started walking towards the centre and a taxi was on his break and kindly took us to the airport.
At first, we were assigned a room on the first floor, a double bed room. As soon as we entered, there were many big ants, mainly concentrated on the sofa chair. The air conditioner could not be started. The room was very dirty. I called the front desk and asked them to help me change the sofa chair. They said they would come, but we waited for 20+ minutes and they didn't come.
At that time, I checked my order on Ctrip and found that I had booked a twin bed. I immediately contacted Ctrip. Ctrip told me that they would contact the hotel front desk to confirm the situation. After a while, Ctrip told me that the hotel front desk did not answer their call, so I ran to the front desk to contact them.
I told the front desk: 1. The air conditioner could not be started 2. There were bugs in the room 3. I booked a twin bed room but was given a double bed room
The front desk told me: 1. Because it was not very hot, the air conditioner could not cool, and the whole building was like this. I said it was impossible to be 20+ degrees at that time. The front desk had a tough attitude and kept repeating that the air conditioner could not be used.
2. This ant is very common, they can arrange someone to kill insects
3. They did not receive the order for a double bed, but if we need it, they can ask the cleaning staff to separate the beds
I said there is something wrong with your room, can you help me change the room, the front desk said that this room type is full, we have to pay for the upgrade. I asked why I need to pay for it myself, it is your room that has a problem, the front desk asked me to wait and discuss it with the boss.
After a while, he came out of the office and told me: 1. The air conditioner can be turned on, but it is broken in my room. They can send a maintenance technician to check it out 2. Ask someone to kill insects in the room 3. Can't change the room, can only upgrade at your own expense.
Finally, Ctrip paid for the upgrade room type for me to change the room.
In addition:
1. Parking is difficult and you have to park far away
2. The buffet is terrible
3. Even if you change the room, the hygiene of the room is still very bad, and the bedding has some problems. I don’t know if it’s bed bugs. Anyway, I am shocked by the service attitude and service awareness of the Spanish.
Had the most incredible time here. Perfect location, fun atmosphere. Breakfast and dinner was included at a buffet. Room was nice and the balcony had a great view. Close to town. I would recommend friends and family to visit. Gorgeous area.
