Riviera in Benalmadena

After staying at the Riviera for many years the new refurbishment is greatly welcome. A lovely modern update and fresh areas to enjoy. If you want to relax, you can enjoy morning yoga on the terrace with Natalia, a beautiful experience.

First time using the hotel. Had a lovely 4 day trip and thought the hotel was wonderful. It’s in a great location, very near bars, restaurants and the lovely marina. I understand the hotel has gone through some refurbishment, so can’t say what it was like before but thought that overall it was lovely. Staff in the hotel were lovely and very accommodating. The bar area and games room were comfortable and spacious. We only had breakfast here but the breakfast area was bright, airy and comfortable. The breakfast options were very good and catered for anything that we needed. The rooms were very nicely laid out and beds were very comfortable. The shower was great and spacious.. plenty of room to have a dance in :) The only complaint(although it never really caused us any major issue) was the big tree in the pool area does block some of the view from the balcony. But all in all we had a lovely stay and will be back.

Arrived home today after a week in the hotel, and what a transformation in such a small space of time. All public areas, light and welcoming especially the lounge and reception. The swimming pool area, looks fantastic, everything new, including new flooring. The pool bar, spacious and looks great. The terrace has nice new comfortable seating with I believe more to come. The corridors have cream walls, much lighter. My room had new shower and taps. As ever it is the staff who make this hotel. My 1 negative is the restaurant not opening until 7.30pm, which is late for a lot of guests. A tip for all future guests is to download a qr code app, as information re the hotel is done by scanning the qr code on a small square in your room and also menu for pool bar meals on terrace. This was my 39th or 40th visit to hotel and I look forward to returning soon. Tweaking is still being done, but well done to everyone involved, getting the hotel ready for opening.

Firstly thank you for our amazing stay. I did read some of the negative reviews - total nonsense. The Medplaya Riviera is so clean & the staff never stop working to make sure your stay is amazing. We were in room 803 (room with an amazing view), our fan in the bathroom stopped working & the maintenance guy changed it for a new one. This hotel is in an amazing place, 10 minutes walk to the harbour & 30 minutes walk to Torremolinos. All the best with the refurbished & hopefully see you next year.

I was sceptical on booking this as this is not what we usually go for and in a new location we haven’t been to before, but wow I am so impressed and I 1000% will be returning here! Lovely hotel in a perfect location! Rooms were spacious and clean and I had a lovely sea view even though we were on the side and quite far back in the hotel! Breakfast was lovely! The staff were very kind and helpful! So many areas to relax! The pool was large and there are many levels and terraces and chill out areas to go! A beautiful roof terrace with day beds and more secluded garden areas with sunbeds! There is a jacuzzi hidden away on one terrace too! Bathroom in the room was lovely double sinks, a bidet and a bath! There is a lift and stairs and even a ramp as an alternative to the seafront, I honestly had the best time here I really really loved it! The only downside I would say is the walls are really thin and could often hear people in the rooms either side but that didn’t put me off it’s just a little annoying at times but it wasn’t much of an issue due to majority of customers being from the older generation so it was very chill. I loved my stay here I had the best time ever! Very reasonable pricing too! Locstion is perfect in the middle of so many shops and restaurants and bus stop a two min walk away which goes into torremelinos! Really recommend staying here !

Four nights B and B in a nice room with a massive balcony overlooking the pool, beach and Marina. Balcony had a jacuzzi as well which was welcoming after a swim in the rather cool pool! Breakfast plentiful with friendly staff and plenty of choice. On the second day a complementary nice bottle of wine was left for us. Spoilt slightly with a ridiculous charge of €8 for an ice bucket from the bar. We didn’t bother. (there was a small fridge in the room which only works when a keycard is in operation). Overall a good break with decent weather.

Firstly I would like to say how much we love this hotel, the staff and the location but I do have an issue… After many visits to this hotel, we have very little complaints but for the first time, we have something that we were very unhappy with. My daughter was allocated room 115, situated on the ground floor with a ‘balcony’. Officially it is a single room with a balcony but in actual fact it’s nothing more the a room/cell just to sleep in tucked away with another room behind reception, the balcony is actually looking over the car park, untidy air conditioning units and other vents. Coupled with the noise from the main road and behind so close to the road, she felt as a mature lady with confidence issues, she felt unsafe and vulnerable. Normally she would have to balcony door open at night and for that reason specifically asked for a higher room. She didn’t feel able to open the door at all. Add to that, paying the same as people with a decent balcony view and actually paying more than my room without a balcony. My cheaper room was lovely. Can I ask why the management feel that is a suitable room for a holiday that is around £800? Also have management and particularly higher management even SEEN that room? Thankfully after a couple of days, with the help of receptionist Juan and TUI rep Gary, who were incredibly helpful, she did get a better room but this should never have been an issue
