Hostal Agua Alegre in Barcelona

We had 2 nights at this place and every morning at 8am there were loud noises as it seems some construction workers were throwing debris in the stairwell. This would continue for 10-20 min. Rooms are very run down and dirty in places. Air conditioning is present but there's no way to control it. The bed mattress was very uncomfortable and felt cheap. Vehicle parking was supposed to be 25€/day but finally they requested 30+25 for 2 days. The billing structure was not clear and felt overcharged. They wanted cash payments for the 70% of the fee, we did not have enough cash so they agreed to make an exception.
On the plus side it is a great location, minutes walk from Sagrada Familia and other attractions. Service personnel was courteous and spoke English.

Cockroach and bedbug infested hostel. Cockroaches are in the hallways and in bedrooms. We were unlucky enough to have bedbugs in addition in our room.

Refused any sort of compensation for bedbugs, despite us having to spend hundreds to deal with the situation that was their fault for keeping an uncleanly business.

This is also my THIRD time posting this, as they had my two reviews removed without cause. Search for cockroaches and/or bedbugs in their reviews - you’ll see this is a long standing problem WITH PICTURES. I’ve attached a picture of my hand showing the bites I received and which management also saw.

This is a hostel with individual rooms with multiple beds - not hard to understand that not everyone who leaves a review will be the one who booked and paid. So I will not be giving you the name of the person who booked nor date - if it is such a common occurrence of having guests complain about cockroaches and bedbugs that you can’t narrow down which reservation, that’s very telling. This is also a public forum, I am not putting anyone personal, private information on here. It’s also interesting that you didn’t address the numerous other posts (some with pictures) complaining of cockroaches and bed bugs nor how you plan to solve either problem.

You have records - look at when you denied any sort of rectification for 3 guests bringing up cockroaches and bedbugs. You and I both know it, along with the vermin, are there. We already tried to solve this directly with you, and were denied. Offering to help us now, only after an expository review, while also accusing the review of lying about a long standing issue documented in other reviews, is ridiculously insincere.

We had a private bed and bathroom for three people. The room was small, did not have a window facing directly outside nor a balcony and was so hot, without a way to control the very limited AC.

For the price of almost €1500 for 7 nights, the bathroom had cockroaches (!!), hairs from previous visiters and hairs in my bed. There is no kitchen, just a microwave and coffeemachine, but when we asked for spoons to use for our own-bought food, that was too much to ask.

Wouldnt recommend even though the location is good
