Farmer's Boutique Resort in Ban Khlong Mae Nam

The hotel owners were very nice. They attended to every request. The location is perfect - no noise, no dust. The room is clean, lots of towels, lot of drinking water. Me and my wife was happy to have rest at Farmers villa

I stayed in a Lotus Villa in March 2025 and it was a nice and peaceful experience. The staff is very friendly and dedicated to maintaining the place as clean as possible. You can hear birds and lizards, day and night. Although it's quite close to the road, the traffic noise is barely noticeable. There are a couple of local restaurants and a 7/11 nearby, but not many activities in the area, making it perfect for a peaceful getaway.

We recently stayed at Farmers Villa and booked one of the “Lotus Villas.” While the hotel is classified as a 4-star property, it’s important for future guests to set their expectations accordingly. That said, the place is undeniably beautiful, especially if you choose the right villa.

The hotel grounds are divided into two areas: one with villas surrounding a lotus lake and another with villas by a paddy field. The lotus lake area is stunning—peaceful, well-maintained, and with a lovely pool that overlooks the mountains. In contrast, the paddy field side felt a bit run-down and lacked the same charm, with a pool that didn’t seem particularly inviting.

Our Lotus Villa was truly a serene retreat. The room was spacious, featuring elegant teak wood details and a large terrace with a gorgeous view of the lotus lake. A special touch was the beautifully arranged towels for our anniversary, which we had mentioned in our booking. The villa was also well-equipped with a mini fridge, daily complimentary bottled water, and a convenient beach bag with two towels for pool or beach use. The two large closets were a great addition, offering ample space for a couple to store luggage comfortably.

The room was cleaned daily, and we regularly saw the staff maintaining the villas and grounds, which was reassuring.

However, the bathroom had a lot of room for improvement. The dark gray walls, black stone floors, and white lighting felt out of place compared to the rest of the villa’s aesthetic. The shower pressure was inconsistent, and we had to wait for the hot water boiler to kick in. Additionally, a large plastic sign near the toilet warning guests not to flush paper gave the bathroom a low-quality feel.

Location: The hotel is in Mae Nam, a quieter part of the island that still offers plenty of great cafés and restaurants. Fisherman’s Village is just a 10-15 minute scooter ride away, depending on traffic. The hotel is conveniently located directly off the main road, and within a 5-minute walk, you can easily reach a 7/11, a restaurant, and a café.

Service & Amenities: This is where expectations need to be adjusted. Despite the 4-star branding, this is more of a beautiful villa accommodation by a lake rather than a full-service hotel. There was no room service or restaurant, though it looked like renovations might be happening in the restaurant area, as we saw packed-up tables and chairs. The reception was barely staffed—we only saw someone there twice during our six-night stay.

Final Thoughts

If you book a Lotus Villa, you’ll get a peaceful, picturesque stay in a beautiful setting. However, if you’re expecting a traditional 4-star hotel experience with full services, this may not be the right choice. As long as you come with the right expectations, this can be a wonderful retreat in nature.

An amazing place in Maenam, Koh Samui, Thailand! Peaceful, surrounded by nature and water, with beautiful bungalows – some right on the lake and others on a large green area. The entire Farmers Villa property is huge, spacious, and provides a perfect stay.

The staff and owners are wonderful and extremely kind, always ready to assist with any request.
There is daily cleaning , which adds to the pleasant atmosphere.

There are two large, well-maintained swimming pools that are absolutely fantastic! The location is also great – close to a beautiful beach, many restaurants, massage places, bars, and laundromats, making everything very convenient.

For those who wish, there is also a small shared kitchen available. We stayed for over two months and enjoyed every moment. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation

We had a great stay here, quite different from other places we'd stayed in Thailand but so peaceful and nice rooms/ bungalows. The owner is incredibly sweet and kind. A wonderful place to sit and relax, if you were a writer or similar you'd find great peace here. Stunning pool too! Reception is not permanently manned but you are given the owners what's app number and she responds to any queries straight away with someone on site sent to your door within minutes for the most simple of queries. Staff are on site, just working so not always spotted but very responsive. I suspect since Covid it has been tough to rebuild business and they are slowly reopening the whole site. There doesn't appear to currently be a restaurant on site but there are plenty of options within an easy flat work. Lovely village nearby about 5 mins walk. We ate all the evenings locally and all food was great. Beach was within walking distance with nice flat sea. Room was lovely with a massive bed and balcony over the rice fields. Pool nearby ( some rooms have private pools). Room serviced each day and complimentary water, coffee, shampoos etc. Immediate reply to any questions sent on what's app and extra coffee sent to the door within mins of a simple ask as to whether we could collect any more. In common with all our stays in thailand, the shower water was warm but not toasty hot. Room clean but unseen areas are missed, this has been our experience at every place we've stayed in thailand so really not an issue. On first arrival I was really concerned about mosquitos given the location over water but needn't have worried. we didn't get bitten once, I suspect all the dragon flies keep them at bay. All in all a wonderful stay at a unique location in a peaceful spot with facilities nearby and a lovely helpful host. Recommend, would def stay again but next time for longer.

Kay is the sweetest person and so welcoming! We had the most amazing stay at Farmers villa.
The reviews that say it's worn might have been right at the time, but it's not worn anymore, it's really great now.

A recommendation would be to book the room with the pool, the price is good and we are here during peak season.

What a wonderful stay really lovely. Super clean houses with really insanely nice beds, wonderful shower and a lovely balcony. The staff is incredibly friendly. It is wonderfully quiet and close to the beach. They also do the laundry for you.

That's definitely a place, where you will want to come back. Because of stylish and cozy environment, quiet and calm atmosphere, friendly, professional and helpful employees and warm-hearted owner, comfortable location. I had came here for a week, but stayed for five weeks, because of reasons, described above, a miracle lotus pond and morning birdsongs. Even in the cloudy and raining days, that is really enjoyable, lovely, magical place. That's a place to relax, leave a fuss aside, try to hear yourself and wake up your source of creative. And I'll come back here again.

BEST SERVICE on the island! My friend and I got a flat tire, and the kind staff not only took our vehicle to a trusted shop for free to get it fixed, but were willing to cook us amazing food even though we weren't even guests! The facilities were breathtaking and possess a surprising and quiet peacefulness that set it apart from the bustle of the main streets and beaches. These people are angels, and you should have no doubts about staying here.
